Morales-Betancourt y Paula Sánchez-Duarte Se elaboró un listado de 173 especies que son aprovechadas y utilizadas para el consumo (Tabla 1). De estas, el 17% (31 especies) se encuentran con algún grado de amenaza de acuerdo a la evaluación nacional publicada en el 2002. Las 173 especies se encuentran agrupadas en 12 órdenes, 34 familias y 89 géneros. Los órdenes más representativos son los Siluriformes con el 36% (9 familias, 62 especies), Characiformes con el 33% (6 familias, 58 especies) y Perciformes con el 19,5% (8 familias, 34 especies) (Figura 6). El 11% restante corresponde a los otros nueve órdenes: Carchariformes, Rajiformes, Pristiformes, Myliobatiformes, Clupeiformes, Elopiformes, Gymnotiformes, Osteoglossiformes y Mugiliformes. En la tabla 2 se presenta un resumen del número de familias, géneros y especies de los diferentes órdenes. 57
