plastic work
publicly condemned the war and firmly opposed any active
support for the conflict, expressing its firm belief in the
need for citizens to continue to raise their voices in favour
of peace and actively and peacefully demand that the war,
and with it the suffering inflicted on its victims, be brought
to an end.

This department manages the content of the
Foundation’s museum, administers César
Manrique’s oeuvre, programmes the institution’s temporary
exhibitions and handles plastic art-related co-operation with
other institutions.
After a number of years of endeavour, by year-end 2003 all of
César Manrique’s plastic work was completely catalogued.
Pursuing a strategy initiated in 2002, the department
contacted galleries and individuals who knew of and
participated in the artist’s activities in Germany, with
excellent results. The information in the FCM archives led to
the location of numerous works.
At the same time, the artist’s works on the Iberian peninsula
and in the Canary Islands continued to be catalogued, likewise
with very promising results. And the study and analysis of the
connections between Germany and Spain constituted a fresh
impetus for this research effort.
A total of 301 pieces were catalogued in Germany and other
European countries, including Switzerland, Norway, France
and England; the works located dated predominantly from the
nineteen eighties and nineties.
