Throughout 2003 the Foundation’s Education Dep<strong>art</strong>ment<br />
p<strong>art</strong>icipated in courses, seminars, symposia, etc., organised by<br />
other institutions.<br />
The “<strong>Manrique</strong> mo<strong>de</strong>l” in crisis<br />
Stu<strong>de</strong>nts and professors from the University of Brussels<br />
visited FCM headqu<strong>art</strong>ers on 5 February. This conference,<br />
which addressed the crisis affecting the mo<strong>de</strong>l of tourist<br />
<strong>de</strong>velopment and territorial action planned by <strong>César</strong><br />
<strong>Manrique</strong>, was <strong>de</strong>livered on the occasion of their visit.<br />
The mo<strong>de</strong>l was likewise introduced to stu<strong>de</strong>nts and<br />
professors p<strong>art</strong>icipating in a masters’ programme on<br />
biodiversity management in the tropics during their 15<br />
February visit to the foundation.<br />
Tourism and environment on Lanzarote<br />
Delivered on 14 and 15 March 2003 as p<strong>art</strong> of the syllabus for<br />
the Tourism Training Course offered by the public secondary<br />
school in Haría, Lanzarote.<br />
Sustainability in Lanzarote.<br />
Challenges, shortcomings and expectations<br />
Delivered on 18 March in the Second environmental seminar<br />
organised by the San B<strong>art</strong>olomé Town Hall.<br />
Discovering the collage<br />
Collage workshops were organised from 1 to 11 April at FCM<br />
headqu<strong>art</strong>ers, concurring with the retrospective exhibition on<br />
the <strong>art</strong>ist Washington Barcala; these workshops were in<br />
addition to the activities conducted in connection with the<br />
educational visits to the showing.<br />
The FCM’s Education Dep<strong>art</strong>ment p<strong>art</strong>icipated in the 2 nd<br />
Environmental Science Seminar organised by the Faculty of<br />
Environmental Science of the University of Granada and held<br />
from 31 March to 5 April. Two lectures were <strong>de</strong>livered by<br />
FCM staff, Lanzarote, the environmental impact of coastal<br />
tourism and Tourism on the Canary Islands.<br />
