Advance notice in any ofthe situations described inparagraph (a) ofthis section shall not be given more than24 hours before the inspection is scheduled to beconducted. except in apparent imminent danger situationsand in other unusual circumstances.(c) The Act provides in Section 25(f) that any person whogives advance notice ofany inspection to be conductedunder the Act, without authority from the Secretary or hisdesignees. shall, upon conviction, be punished by afine ofnot more than 51,000 or by imprisonment for not morethan six (6) months. or by both.1903.7 CONDUCT OFINSPECTIONS(a) Subject to the provisions ofSection 1903.3, inspectionsshall take place at such times and in such places ofemployment as the Director ofthe Bureau ofInspections orthe Area Director may direct. At the beginning of aninspection, Compliance Safety and Health Officers shallpresent their credentials to the owner, operator, or agentin charge at the place ofemployment; explain the natureandpurpose ofthe inspection; and indicate generally thescope ofthe inspection and the records specified in Section1903.3 which they wish to review. However, suchdesignation of records shall not preclude access toadditional records specified in Section 1903.3.(b) Compliance Safety and Health Officers shall haveauthority to take environmental samples and to take orobtain photographs related to the purpose of theinspection, employ other reasonable investigativetechniques, and question privately any employer. owner,operator, agent or employee ofan establishment [(SeeSection 1903.9 on trade secrets.] As usedherein, the term"employ other reasonable investigative techniques"includes, but is not limited to, the use ofdevices to measureemployee exposures and the attachment of personalsampling equipment such as dosimeters,pumps, badges and
