5 NÚCLEOS TRACCIONANTES En relación al consumo de aceros, se calcula que en 2025 alcanzará las 1.077.000 toneladas, lo que equivale a un incremento de 127% respecto al año 2014 (Cochilco, 2014e). El costo actual de medios de molienda corresponde al 22% del costo de operación de esta etapa. Tradicionalmente se ha utilizado agua continental, pero en los últimos años se ha incorporado crecientemente el agua de mar, con su consecuente impacto en el consumo de energía. El siguiente gráfico evidencia que, entre los años 2017 y 2018, la oferta nacional de bolas de molienda superaría a la demanda. No obstante, a partir del año 2019 la oferta nacional sólo alcanzaría para satisfacer aquellos proyectos catalogados como probables y parte de los posibles. 296 / ROADMAP TECNOLÓGICO DE LA MINERÍA 2035 ALTA LEY
