mundial con Boeing y Airbus.
El balance global de la feria londinense dejó un total de 72.000 millones
de dólares (55.600 millones de euros) en pedidos y acuerdos para un total
de 758 aviones, lo que supuso un incremento del 53% con respecto a la
edición de 2010, según informó la organización del evento. Este año participaron
más de 1.500 empresas y entidades expositoras de 39 países,
que generaron más 109.000 visitas de profesionales durante los primeros
cinco días de la feria. Asimismo, se atendieron 80 delegaciones militares
de 46 países y otras 13 delegaciones del sector civil.
No obstante, la impresión general de los expertos y profesionales del
sector asistentes a Farnborough 2012 fue de una feria más contenida
que en ediciones anteriores y con más compromisos de compra sobre
la mesa que pedidos cerrados en firme. Algo comprensible si se tiene en
cuenta que tanto Boeing como Airbus tienen ya acumulados encargos
para fabricar más de 8.000 aviones, lo que les garantiza unos 6-7 años de
carga de trabajo. Su principal preocupación en estos momentos es garantizar
la producción de las aeronaves contratadas y cumplir los plazos de
entrega de la mejor forma posible.
Récord de expositores y visitantes en ILA
La celebración de ILA Berlín estuvo marcada más por la presentación
de nuevos productos tecnológicos y el anuncio de acuerdos institucionales
o empresariales que por las operaciones comerciales entre las compañías
asistentes. La muestra alemana, que conmemoró sus cien años
de vida, cerró sus puertas a mediados de septiembre con un récord de
participación de expositores y visitantes. Según las cifras aportadas por
la organización, un total de 1.243 empresas de 46 países se congregaron
en las instalaciones del aeropuerto berlinés de Schönefeld y unas 230.000
personas (entre ellos 125.000 visitantes especializados) asistieron a los
encuentros y actividades programadas.
Cerca de 275 aeronaves fueron expuestas en el evento, entre ellas el
nuevo helicóptero europeo Eurocopter Hybrid-Demonstrator X3, que fue
presentado internacionalmente por EADS, o el Elektra One Solar, el primer
avión ligero que se alimenta sólo con energía solar. También destacó la presencia
de los superjumbos Airbus A380 y Boeing 747, y los cazabombarderos
europeo Eurofighter, estadounidense F-18, y ruso MiG-29, entre otros.
Dentro del apartado de eventos corporativos, ILA acogió la difusión de
las estimaciones de Airbus para el sector en los próximos años, con unas
cifras optimistas para el mercado europeo. La compañía calcula que las
compañías aéreas del Viejo Continente necesitarán hasta 5.840 nuevos
aparatos para el transporte de pasajeros en los próximos 20 años y que
tan solo el mercado aéreo alemán demandará en ese plazo unos 1.020
aviones para cubrir sus necesidades, el doble de su flota actual. Otro
anuncio importante fue el realizado por los ministros del ramo de los cuatro
países miembros de Airbus (Alemania, España, Francia y Gran Bretaña),
quienes expresaron su deseo de suspender la polémica tasa de emisiones
para la navegación aérea en Europa.
Pero la noticia más destacada de toda la feria fue el posible acuerdo de
fusión entre el consorcio EADS y la compañía británica BAE Systems, una
operación que ha hecho tambalearse las acciones de ambas empresas
en bolsa y ha obligado en las últimas semanas a la celebración de reuniones
de urgencia de los Gobiernos afectados por la operación. Además,
durante la feria las industrias aeronáuticas de Alemania y México firmaron
un acuerdo de colaboración con el fin de estrechar relaciones comerciales
y cooperar en los ámbitos técnico, informativo y promocional, facilitando
así el establecimiento de empresas alemanas en el país norteamericano.

by CIT Group and Synergy Aerospace and, specially, 86 commitments of
purchase for the program A320 by CALC, Utair, Avolon, Middle East Airlines
and Arkia Israel.
More commitments than purchases
Farnborough also brought important agreements for Bombardier, although
in a smaller scale. The Canadian manufacturer closed its participation
at the fair with firm orders and purchase agreements for a total value of
3,270 million dollars (2.675 million euros) for planes Q400 NextGen, CRJ
and CSeries. Its main order was done by Latvian company AirBaltic for a
total of 20 aircrafts of the next CSeries, with which the constructor aims
competing with Boeing and Airbus at the global market.
The general assessment of the London Fair left a total of 72 billion dollars
(55.600 million euros) in orders and agreements for a total of 758 aircrafts,
which meant an increase of 53% with regard to the 2010 edition, as
informed by the organization of the event. This year, more than 1,500 firms
and institutions from 39 countries have participated with stands, generating
more than 109,000 visits of professionals during the first five days of the fair.
Also, it received the visit of 80 military delegations from 46 countries and
another 13 delegations from the civil sphere.
Nevertheless, the general overview of experts and professionals of the
sector who attended Farnborough 2012 remarked that it was more moderated
than in previous years and with more purchase commitments on the
table than firm orders. A fact that is quite reasonable taking into account that
both Boeing and Airbus already have accumulated orders to produce more
than 8,000 aircrafts, which warrants 6-7 years of work. Currently, their main
concern is to warrant the production of engaged aircrafts and to comply
with the delivery terms the best way as possible.
Braking records of stands and visitants at ILA
The celebration of ILA Berlin was marked by the presentation of new
technological products and the announcement of institutional or business
agreements rather than by the trading operations among attending firms.
The German fair, which celebrated its century anniversary, closed the doors
in mid September with a record of participation regarding stands and visitors.
According to the figures given by the organization, a total of 1,243
firms from 46 countries congregated at the facilities of the Berlin airport of
Schönefeld and 230,000 people (among them, 125,000 specialised visitors)
attended the meetings and programmed activities.
Nearly 275 aircrafts were exposed during the event, among them, the
new European helicopter Eurocopter Hybrid-Demonstrator X3, which was
internationally presented by EADS, or Elektra One Solar, the first light plane
exclusively powered by solar energy. Furthermore, there stood out the presence
of super-jumbos Airbus A380 and Boeing 747, and European fighterbomber

Regarding the subject of corporate events, ILA held the presentation of
Airbus assessments for the sector in the coming years, with optimistic figures
for the European market. The company estimates that the European
airlines would need up to 5,840 new aircrafts to transport passengers in the
next 20 years, and that only the German air market would demand about
1,020 planes in that term to meet its needs, that is to say, twice its current
fleet. Another important announcement was made by the corresponding
ministers of four countries member of Airbus (Germany, Spain, France and
Great Britain), who expressed their will to cancel the controversial emission
tax to air navigation in Europe.
But the most outstanding piece of news in the whole fair was the possible
fusion agreement between the EADS consortium and British company BAE
Systems, an operation that has made the shares of both firms teeter on the
stock market and has forced urgent meetings of Governments involved in
the operation. Also during the fair, aeronautical industries of Germany and
Mexico signed an agreement of collaboration with the purpose of tightening
commercial links and cooperating in technical, informative and promotional
matters, enabling that way the establishment of German companies in the
North American country.
