olor aviejo, acerrado y sucio, mientras que Shoesandcoloursabrelasventanasy
deja entrar un aromamucho másoptimista.

The work is basedon an analysisof two typesof relationship:
The pictorial rigour in the abstraction typical of the artistic avant-gardes
of the 20th century;
Rupture asarational impulse.
PUTIN:
It is a work inspired by politicians. A Putin portrait (Vladimir) is a sign, and
asymptom, of thepainful blindness of wormypolitician’s faults. Nothingcan
be drawn anymore.
SHOES AND COLOURS:
Shoes is a passionatededication to the principle that organized dirt has its
own aesthetic qualities.
Artistic practice is the premise necessaryfor the creation of the creative
process, so the footprint of a shoe becomes a pictorial substance, glue or
assemblymaterial.
From the beginning, certaainolfactory sensationshavebeenlinked to these
twoworks. It is curious howthe portrait of the statesmangivesoff aparticular
smell of something old, closed-up and dirty, while shoesandcoloursopensthe
windowsand lets in amuch more optimistic aroma.

Un dibujo sobre un papelde 76,5 x 56 cm suficientemente rugoso paraque
la fricción del carboncillo sobre su superficie permita dejar un trazo discontinuo
y sutil. La imagen describe una cabezarecostadasobre uno de los lados;
lo primero que esto nos sugiere es la idea de máscara,quizá por cómo
estáenvuelto el rostro y por la tensión que la composición genera, ocupando
prácticamentelos límites del margendel papel.
El rostro tiene los ojos cerrados, como si durmiera, con una actitud de
placidez, sensaciónque refuerzael título en francésRêve,“sueño”. El título va
acompañadodedos letras, R y H, que aluden ala fotografía que Raoul Hausmannrealizó,
con el mismotítulo, en 1930.
No sépor qué esrecurrente en mi obraestaimagen de unacabezarecostada
con los ojos cerrados. Supongo que algo tendrá que ver con la suspensión
delaconcienciay delos sentidos. Unaimagen, sin embargo,nuncaes unívoca
sino que aglutinamúltiples significados yasociaciones.Debido probablemente
al gestoque describe el rostro, el sentido sugerido por Rêveesel del olfato,
porque los demásestánanulados,no hayvisión, ni sonido (el rostro no tiene
orejas yla bocapermanececerrada).
¿No es cierto también que cuando queremos oler algo hacemosun gesto
similar e intentamos anular los demássentidos parapotenciar y concentrarnos
en el sentido que estamosutilizando?

A drawingon a76.5 x 56 cm sheetof paperrough enoughfor the friction of
the charcoal on its surface to leave a subtle, discontinuous line. The image
depicts a head resting on one of its sides, which at first suggeststhe idea of
a mask, perhaps becauseof the waythe face is encircled and becauseof the
tension that the composition generates, occupying the paper almost to the
very edges.
The face has its eyes closed, as if it were sleeping, with a mood of
peacefulness,asensationreinforced by the title in French, Rêve(dream). The
title is accompaniedby the letters R.H., a reference to the photograph with
the sametitle thatRaoul Hausmann madein 1930.
I don’t know why this image of a resting head with eyes closed is so
recurrent in my work. I supposeit hassomethingto do with the suspension of
