Kirsti Loukola-Ruskeeniemi ja Pertti Lahermo
Planning for the publication Arsenic in Finland:
Distribution, Environmental Impacts and
Risks began at the Geological Survey in 2002. In
2003, the chief editor, Kirsti Loukola-Ruskeeniemi,
was appointed professor at the Helsinki University
of Technology and Pertti Lahermo retired
from his position of State Geochemist at the Geological
Survey. The work on the book continued,
however. Pirkko Kurki, graphic artist at the Geological
Survey, designed the cover and ensured
that the drawings were in conformity with one
another. Professor Pekka Nurmi of the Geological
Survey and Professor Vesa Peuraniemi of the University
of Oulu reviewed all the manuscripts. In
addition, Nils Gustavsson and several others kindly
reviewed articles in their own area of expertise.

Acknowledgements
Kathleen Ahonen assisted with the translation. Stiina
Seppänen, a researcher at the Geological Survey,
looked after the details of publication. Research
Professor Runar Blomqvist, Director of Research
Gabor Gaal and Program Director Hannu Idman
