condescending parenthesis with
some pleasant surprises.
First and foremost, I must say
that the month of February is far
from providing enough time to
cover all aspects of the experience
and contribution of the
black race on this planet. I am
somewhat concerned that those
nice people who thought of
dedicating this month to the
history of the black race, might
have made the mistake of believing
that said history began with
colonization and slavery. If
Africa is the cradle of humanity,
if art, sciences and organized
societies were born on the
african continent, Black history
simply cannot fit inside one
month.
Black people ´s history is,
indeed, a history that colonization
and slavery have methodically
falsified for centuries.
Today, science has proven
beyond every doubt that the
Egypt of the pyramids was
black. This kind of information
belongs in every school book
and every classroom now. The
history of the black race is,
obviously, a painful story of
stolen achievements, and relentlessly
murdered brave visionaries.
Black people need to discover
their history, and believe
in it in order to get their selfesteem
back.
We cannot talk about black
history without mentioning
Haiti, the New World's first
black State. Our identity is not
celebrated throughout the
world, but we know how precious
it is, and we are clinging
to it.
In closing, I wish you all a
KINAM MAGAZINE — FEBRUARY | MARCH 2021
safe and pleasant month of
February. Take care of yourselves.
Look out for one another.
Whatever you do, remember
HAITI.
Frè m, sè m ak zanmi m yo
toupatou,
Se yon gwo kokenn chenn
privilèj pou mwen pou m Salye
nou avèk tout kè m pandan n ap
akeyi mwa fevriye a avèk tout
defi li, tout kè site li. Mwa sa a
ki se mwa ki pi kout nan ane a,
se Mwa Istwa Moun Nwa. Se
yon peryòd kote nou pral tande
pale de kontribisyon moun nwa
fè nan plizyè domèn, sitou nan
tan resan yo. Kòm sistèm
edikasyon nou yo pa bay
kontribisyon sa yo plas yo
merite a, Mwa Istwa Moun Nwa
a se yon favè yo fè nou. Nou ka
aprann kèk bagay ki ankourajan.
Anvan m ale pi lwen, fò m di
mwa fevriye a poko prèt pou l
sifi pou l kouvri tout aspè
eksperyans moun nwa sou
planèt la. Mw gen enpresyon
moun ki te deside chwazi mwa
fevriye a kòm Mwa Istwa Moun
Nwa a, te konsidere istwa moun
Nwa tankou yon istwa ki
kòmanse avèk kolonizasyon epi
esklavaj. Sa se bon erè. Si Afrik
se bèso limanite, si lasyans,
travay atis epi sosyete òganize te
pran nesans sou kontinan afriken
an, istwa ras nwa a pa kapab yon
ti bagay pou yon mwa.
Istwa ras nwa a se yon istwa
esklavaj avèk kolonizasyon pran
tout tan yo pou yo falsifye l
pandan plizyè syèk. Jodi a,
lasyans pwouve nou Ejipsyen ki
t ap viv nan tan piramid yo te
moun nwa. Pa gen dout nan sa.
— 35 —
Enfòmasyon konsa dwe gen plas
li nan tout lekòl. Istwa ras nwa a
se istwa anpil patrimwann yo
vòlè epi anpil vizyonè vanyan
yo ansasinen san pitye. Fò pèp
nwa sa a aprann vrè istwa l pou l
ka repran bonjan respè pou tèt li.
Nou pa kapab pale sou istwa
ras nwa san nou pa mansyone
Ayiti, premye Eta nwa nan
Nouvo Mond la. Yo pa selebre
idantite nou an toupatou soulatè,
men nou konnen li presye epi
nou fyè de li.
Pou m fini, m ap swete nou
tout yon bon mwa fevriye. Pran
swen tèt nou.Youn veye sou lòt.
Kèlkeswa sa n ap fè, sonje
AYITI.
