First and foremost, I must say
that the month of February is far
from providing enough time to
cover all aspects of the experience
and contribution of the
black race on this planet. I am
somewhat concerned that those
nice people who thought of
dedicating this month to the
history of the black race, might
have made the mistake of believing
that said history began with
colonization and slavery. If
Africa is the cradle of humanity,
if art, sciences and organized
societies were born on the
african continent, Black history
simply cannot fit inside one
month.
Black people ´s history is,
indeed, a history that colonization
and slavery have methodically
falsified for centuries.
Today, science has proven
beyond every doubt that the
Egypt of the pyramids was
black. This kind of information
belongs in every school book
and every classroom now. The
history of the black race is,
obviously, a painful story of
stolen achievements, and relentlessly
murdered brave visionaries.
Black people need to discover
their history, and believe
in it in order to get their selfesteem
back.
We cannot talk about black
history without mentioning
Haiti, the New World's first
black State. Our identity is not
celebrated throughout the
world, but we know how precious
it is, and we are clinging
to it.
In closing, I wish you all a
