With its cobbled streets and colourful houses, Marly-le-Roi
will make you feel like you're in Provence or a small village in
Tuscany, but it's just 30 minutes from Paris!
Louis XIV chose to build his country residence here, far
from the bustle of Versailles. Years later, artists, painters
and writers such as Alfred Sisley, Aristide Maillol and
Alexandre Dumas also took up residence there.
Let yourself be tempted by the many restaurants on the
Grande Rue, whether it's for brunch or lunch. You can also
stroll through the Domaine Royal de Marly, a site classified
as a "Jardin remarquable". Once there, a visit to the Musée
du Domaine Royal de Marly is a must. An immersive virtual
reality experience alongside the King awaits you, where
you will get to know everything about the royal residence
that has now disappeared. And if you want to go out into
the green nature, get on a bike and discover the forest of
Marly, its bucolic sites and its hilly trails. More "wild" than
its neighbour of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the forest of Marly
was also a historic hunting ground belonging to the kings of
France. A unique opportunity to breathe the fresh air with a
guaranteed change of scenery just outside Paris.
