The increasing focus on internationalization of higher education has made study abroad
program an essential part of a university learning process. This significant aspect of
learning is made possible at the University of Malaya through UM Study Abroad
program. UM Study Abroad is designed for international students who wish to acquire
the experience of living and studying in a Malaysian campus through a short-term study
program. It aims at fostering international understanding among students of different
nationalities by providing an excellent learning environment.
Through the program, students from overseas can pursue studies through taught
courses or research in their field of interest and gain broad perspectives on different
cultures and background of their peers.

Eligibility
Students registered as regular full time student either in an undergraduate or graduate
program at their home university and have met the following requirements are eligible to
apply for UMSA program.
1. Have completed their first year of study
2. Must have CGPA of 3.0 to 4.0 in the American grading system or equivalent
Admission
Successful students will be accepted to the University as non-graduating students under
one of the following categories:
1. Exchange Students - students from universities, which have signed a mutual
exchange agreement with UM.
