figurazione narrativa all’astrazione.
sui suoi pionieri.
of painting, in which calligraphy becomes a curious semeiology filled with light, whiteness,
transparencies and ethereal veilings, had come of age. As a result, during the last war, he
became a sort of historic master for those artists who, one after the other, were shifting
from narrative representation to abstraction. he brought in his complex experience of travel
and in-depth study, of investigation and of its sublimation.
it was a refreshing process for the europeans too, as they were then seeking a way to
abandon the emptiness of an all-embracing aestheticism.
this may have been all too complicated for the greedy “roaring eighties” with their race
for money decreed to be a fundamental ethical principle by the first reagan administration.
thinkers were out of the question, so there was no way meditators could be tolerated!
that cycle now appears to be packed away in the cardboard boxes that young speculator
heroes have been carting back to their mamma’s homes.
A new cycle is beginning, different in the very substance of its values. the depression may
well be more inward and personal than economic – at least for those prophets who for thirty
years dictated the laws of good and evil, in bonds as in art. the West will once again reflect
on its pioneers.
