Sarah è sempre stata all’ombra di sua
madre, la celebrità Chef Siti. Quando
cerca di lasciare il segno nel mondo della
panificazione, si ritrova inaspettatamente
tra due uomini che bramano le sue
attenzioni. Imran è il perfetto gentiluomo
che qualsiasi genitore malese-musulmano
approverebbe per la propria figlia, mentre
Edwin è un serio vlogger cinese che, come
dichiara sfacciatamente il fratello di Sarah,
non è “halal”! A complicare le cose, Edwin
proviene da una famiglia taoista che gestisce
una popolare bancarella di venditori
ambulanti di maiale arrosto. E che si aspetta
da lui che sposi una ragazza cinese e rilevi
l’azienda di famiglia. Sara sarà in grado di
superare le loro differenze? O soccomberà
alle aspettative della famiglia e della società?
Sarah has always been in the shadow of her mother,
Celebrity Chef Siti. When she tries to make her mark
in the baking industry, she is unexpectedly caught
between two men yearning for her affections. Imran
is the perfect gentleman any Malay-Muslim parents
would approve for their daughter, while Edwin is
an earnest Chinese vlogger who, as Sarah’s brother
blatantly declares, isn’t ‘halal’! To complicate
matters, Edwin comes from a Taoist family that
runs a popular roast pork hawker stall. And being
the filial son, he is expected to marry a Chinese girl
and take over the family business. Will Sarah be able
to navigate through their differences? Or will she
succumb to family and societal expectations?
Ismet è un soldato turco, in servizio al confine
come comandante della guardia costiera e da
poco in pensione. Ora come civile, lotta per
comunicare con la sua famiglia e le persone
che lo circondano. Il suo unico figlio lo ha
abbandonato ed è partito per gli Stati Uniti. E
ora anche sua moglie vuole unirsi a suo figlio.
Dopo essere diventato improvvisamente
vicino di casa con due rifugiati siriani (Omar
e Mariye) nella sua casa vicino al confine
turco-greco e l’esperienza umana che deve
vivere, ora deve affrontare i suoi pregiudizi e le
sue opinioni politiche. Gli attori professionisti
Taj Sher Yakub (Omar) e Hala Alsayasneh
(Mariye) protagonisti di questo film sono due
rifugiati siriani che vivono in Turchia con lo
status di immigrazione temporanea.
Ismet is a Turkish soldier, who was on duty at the
border as a Commander of the Coast Guard and
recently retired. Now as a civilian, he struggles
to communicate with his family and people
surrounding him. His only son abandoned him
and left to the U.S. And now his wife wants to join
her son, too. After suddenly becoming neighbors
with two Syrian refugees (Omar and Mariye) at
his house near the Turkish-Greek border and the
humane experience he has to live through, he now
has to face his prejudices and his political views.
Professional actors Taj Sher Yakub (Omar) and
Hala Alsayasneh (Mariye) starring in this movie
are two Syrian refugees who live in Turkey under
temporary immigration status.
