SÖLL IS
RE-ESTABLISHING
THE WOODS!
THE TOWN IS GETTING
ITS OWN ‘TRIMM DICH
PFAD’ FITNESS TRAIL!
Whoever prefers to avoid the walls of fitness
studios, has one less excuse from now on.
After all, this free leisure offer in the middle
of healthy forest air is not just good for
your body, but also for your psyche and can
be completed independent of weather and
time. Whether it is 30 minutes or two hours
– it is not speed that is important, but the
thoroughness of execution. ‘This is extensively
explained on the information boards,
so even the untrained lay person can train
effectively’, explained the Mayor further,
who himself is already delighted and itching
to get started on the new fitness course. It’ll
soon be all go!
x
The ‘enormous effort’ behind the implementation
of the new ‘Forstmeile’ fitness circuit
in the middle of Söll, was, in actual fact, not
all that great at all. ‘The idea came about
as part of the community planning initiative
– ‘family-friendly communities’ - and was
enthusiastically received by the town council
straight away too’, explained mayor, Ing.
Wolfgang Knabl. ‘After agreement with the
landowners and official votes proved very
positive, we are currently in the tendering
process and hope that in the summer months
we will be able to get started with the implementation’,
continues Knabl.
WHEN EVERYONE PULLS TOGETHER
The ‘Forstmeile’ project once again shows
how easy it can sometimes be to push things
forward when everyone pulls together: ‘Working
together with the local cross-country
and running club and a fitness expert, we
have developed a fantastic, variety-packed
concept that ought to motivate the people
of Söll and visitors alike to get moving out in
the fresh air,’ the mayor proudly explained to
us. By the by, the fact that his own ‘breadand-butter’
job is as a forest ranger, has little
to do with the setting up of the ‘Forstmeile’,
as we learned; nudge nudge, wink wink ;-).
14 STATIONS FOR HEALTH AND FITNESS
The aim of the ‘Forstmeile’ is to provide
users with a wide range of training methods
at 14 stations, not all of which will be too
strenuous, so everyone really will be able to
train there – from those who enjoy sport in
their free time, to top-level athletes, from
grandchild to grandma. In so doing, individual
sections may also left out too. And a
person can also – depending on their fitness
level – jog or walk between sections. It is this
very combination of running or walking and
training that promotes endurance, strength
and fitness while training in open, natural
surroundings. So it is not just individual
muscle groups that are trimmed on a ‘Forstmeile’,
rather it is effective full body training
that is provided.
