Executive Summary
Investments in mineral exploration, mining and mineral transformation (metallurgy
and nonmetallics), almost all of which coming from private sector, are expected
to total US$ 270 billion by 2030, with an additional 30% of this amount for infrastructure
and logistics, achieving US$ 350 billion.
As a result of increased production, the number of jobs will also rise by a factor of
three over the coming two decades. It is important to point out that mineral transformation
creates quantitatively more jobs. This reinforces the need of integrated policies
for productive chains in the mining industry, in order to increase the importance of
mineral assets extracted nationally.
All PNM-2030 objectives and actions are of the highest importance. However,
two stand out:
• public governance: in order to consolidate the new mineral regulatory framework,
with the creation of the National Mineral Policy Council; promote changes in the
authorization and concession system create the National Mining Agency; in addition
to revising the policy for Financial Compensation for the Exploration of Mineral
Resources, the Brazilian mineral royalties;
