e Lucas, de três anos, é o neto – filho de Jonas. Hoje a
família tem na garagem de casa seis carros antigos, mas
nem sempre a história foi assim.
Jonas conta que desde pequeno lembra de frequentar
junto com seu Francisco e com o irmão Társis eventos
de carros antigos, mas com uma particularidade: como
expectadores. “não tínhamos condições de comprar, mas
gostávamos tanto que sempre íamos”, conta. A paixão do
pai em específico era por Mavericks. “Ele tinha um amigo
que possuía um, então ele pegava emprestado para sair
namorar com a minha mãe. Isso ele tinha 14 anos, com 16
já estava casado”, relembra a trajetória do pai.
Foi então que seu Francisco decidiu juntar dinheiro
para comprar seu primeiro Maverick, mas os planos foram
interrompidos quando descobriu da gravidez do primogênito
Jonas. Depois veio Társis e juntos eles frequentavam os
eventos de carros. “Tirávamos fotos, levávamos os filmes
para revelar, e quando passava um Maverick ele sempre
falava: isso sim que é carro”, descreve.
Com toda essa paixão os irmãos decidiram surpreender
o pai: dar de presente o tão sonhado carro no aniversário
de 50 anos. “Abrimos mãos de alguns bens e compramos
um praticamente sucateado. Levamos três anos para
reformá-lo, tudo sem meu pai saber”. A surpresa foi feita
no dia da festa, quando os irmãos passaram um vídeo no
telão, contando toda a história do pai e ao final entraram
no salão no Maverick GT V8 1977 totalmente reformado.
“Foi uma emoção sem fim”, valoriza.
Jonas sempre foi apaixonado por muscle cars e comprou
há um ano um Galaxie LTD 1976 V8. Mas já adianta:
“nosso sonho é ter um Maverick cada. Neste momento
estou reformando um que será meu e o próximo da fila é
o do meu irmão”, antecipa.
Lucas is the three-year old grandson, son of Jonas. Today,
the family garage houses six vintage cars, but the story was
not always so.
Jonas tells us that since he was little he remembers going
to vintage car events, along with his father, Francisco, and his
brother, Társis, but with a particularity: as spectators. “We
didn’t have the conditions to buy one, but we liked them
so much that we always went to these events,” he says. The
father’s passion in particular was for Mavericks. “He had a
friend who had one, so he borrowed the car to go on a date
with my mom. This was when he was 14, by 16, he was
already married,” as he recalls part of his father’s trajectory.
It was then that Francisco decided to put together some
money to buy his first Maverick, but his plans were halted
when he learned of the pregnancy of his eldest son, Jonas.
Then came Társis, and together they went to old car events.
“We used to take pictures, we took the films to be developed
and when a Maverick passed by, my father always said:
that’s the car,” he describes.
With all this passion, the brothers decided to surprise
their father and give him the so dreamed of car as a present
for his 50th birthday. “We gave up some things and bought
a practically junked one. It took us three years to fix it up,
all without my father knowing.” We surprised him on the
day of the party, when the brothers showed a video on a
screen, relating the life of their father and, at the end, the
1977 Maverick GT V8 entered the Hall, completely restored.
“It was an emotion without end,” he appreciates.
Jonas has always been in love with muscle cars and,
a year ago, bought a 1976 Galaxy LTD V8. But says: “our
dream has always been to each own a Maverick. Right now
I’m restoring one that will be mine and next in line is my
brother’s,” he anticipates.
