Cisco (NetAcad) program is Cisco’s biggest<br />
social investment to support career development<br />
in technologies critical to accelerate digital<br />
transformation.<br />
Present in dozens of education institutions like<br />
Polytechnic Institutes, Universities, Vocational Schools<br />
and Secondary Schools, NetAcad is also delivered by<br />
institutions like IEFP, IAPMEI, IGFEJ, INCoDE.2030 and<br />
Programa Escolhas.<br />
Launched in October 1997, NetAcad became<br />
available in Portugal in 1999. Since then and until<br />
the end of the past Academic year, it had more<br />
than 40,000 students. In the context of the Country<br />
Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, NetAcad’s<br />
development was accelerated, having registered<br />
more than 20,000 students that have participated<br />
in one or more courses, corresponding to more than<br />
2,000,000 learning hours. During the last Academic<br />
year alone, more than 8,500 students benefited<br />
from at least one course. We believe this growing<br />
participants’ number contributes to the digitization<br />
effort of the country and to increase digital skills<br />
in areas like cybersecurity, networking, operating<br />
systems, programming, infrastructure automation,<br />
among others.<br />
The courses are made available for free to all eligible<br />
institutions, like schools, polytechnics and universities:<br />

• Emerging careers preparation<br />
• Alignment to global certifications<br />
Students not only learn about technology, but also to<br />
work in teams, helping others and how to find their<br />
