Vivemos tempos de profundas
transformações ou até disrupções
e de grande instabilidade. No meio
da incerteza e no momento em que
ninguém se arrisca a fazer previsões, há
uma certeza: no Mundo, na Europa e
em Portugal nada ficará como dantes.
Com a tecnologia a assumir um papel
absolutamente essencial no futuro da
economia e da sociedade, que serão
cada vez mais assentes no digital.
A pandemia Covid-19 veio acelerar
exponencialmente a realidade de
transformação para o digital que já estava
a alterar as nossas vidas, a organização
das empresas, os negócios, a governação
e o equilíbrio geoestratégico entre países.
Foi a primeira pandemia a ocorrer num
tempo em que as tecnologias digitais se
assumiram como uma ferramenta que
não só nos protegeu, como assegurou e
suportou a continuidade das nossas vidas
e dos negócios das nossas empresas.
A utilização da tecnologia em tempos de
exceção intensificou exponencialmente
as mudanças que já vinham a ocorrer.
Nomeadamente ao nível dos processos
de trabalho. A adoção súbita do
teletrabalho, com os confinamentos,
levou a que o que antes se antecipava
que demorasse muitos anos a ser
introduzido à escala global acontecesse
de um dia para o outro. Mudaram
processos, mentalidades e culturas e os
colaboradores optam cada vez mais por
novas formas híbridas de trabalho.
Mas muitas outras atividades
remotas estão cada vez mais em
desenvolvimento, à medida que se
ampliam as características das nossas
redes, com especial relevo para a
adoção do 5G nos tempos de hoje.
Tal como sucedeu noutras anteriores
gerações de comunicações móveis,
uma nova onda de inovação estará ao
dispor de todos, à medida que novas
aplicações forem concebidas e criadas
para tirar partido das características
próprias deste novo paradigma.

and at a time when no one risks making
predictions, there is one certainty: nothing

be the same as before. With technology
taking on an absolutely essential role in
the future of the economy and society,
which will be increasingly digital-based.
The Covid-19 pandemic exponentially
accelerated the reality of the
transformation to digital that was already
changing our lives, the organization of
companies, businesses, governance,
and the geostrategic balance between
countries. It was the first pandemic to
occur at a time when digital technologies
had become a tool that not only
protected us, but ensured and supported
the continuity of our lives and the business
of our companies.
The use of technology in times of
exception has exponentially intensified
the changes that were already occurring.
Namely at the level of work processes.
The sudden adoption of telecommuting,
with confinements, has meant that what
was once anticipated to take many
years to be introduced on a global scale
has happened overnight. Processes,
mindsets and cultures have changed
and employees are increasingly opting
for new hybrid ways of working.
But many other remote activities are
increasingly under development as the
characteristics of our networks expand,
most notably the adoption of 5G today.
As with previous generations of mobile
communications, a new wave of
innovation will be available to all as new
applications are designed and created
to take advantage of the characteristics
of this new paradigm.
The first large-scale war in Europe after
