Segundo David Feffer, presidente do Conselho
de Administração da Suzano, após 100 anos de
história, a Suzano aprendeu a adotar uma perspectiva
de longo prazo e plantar no presente as sementes
do futuro que queremos alcançar. “Por meio dessa
iniciativa e das novas parcerias que estamos firmando,
esperamos ajudar a criar e empoderar a próxima
geração de especialistas e líderes que ajudarão
governos, empresas e a sociedade civil a tomarem
atitudes para proteger e restaurar a natureza ao
longo do próximo século”, destacou David. O presidente
do conselho também afirmou que a empresa
acredita que a educação, ciência e colaboração
efetiva são três das armas mais poderosas que temos
para lutar contra a perigosa redução das espécies, a
degradação dos solos e a poluição de nossas águas
e da atmosfera. “Não há tempo a perder, o mundo
precisa parar e reverter a perda da natureza até
2030. Nossa ambição é começar agora, com uma
visão de como podemos fazer parte da solução para
o próximo século”, complementa David.
Bhaskar Vira, pró-vice-reitor de Educação da
Universidade de Cambridge, destacou que é uma
grande alegria firmar a parceria entre a Universidade
de Cambridge e a Suzano, que representa
um marco significativo no nosso compromisso
com a colaboração em nível global. “A Suzano traz
next generation of experts and leaders who help governments,
businesses, and civil society take action to
protect and restore nature in the next century,” said
Feffer. He also said the Company believes that education,
science, and effective collaboration are three
of the most powerful weapons we have to fight the
dangerous loss of species, degradation of soils, and
pollution of our waters and atmosphere. “There is no
time to lose, and the world must halt and reverse the
loss of nature by 2030. Our ambition is to start now,
with a vision of how we can be part of the solution
for the next century,” adds Feffer.
Bhaskar Vira, Vice-Chancellor Pro Tem for Education
at the University of Cambridge, said it was a great
pleasure to sign the partnership between the University
of Cambridge and Suzano, which represents a
significant milestone in our commitment to collaboration
on a global scale. “Suzano brings a wide range of
unique and valuable assets to this partnership, and its
multi-million pound commitment will not only help
to consolidate Cambridge as a leader in the study of
ecosystems, biodiversity, and socio-economic factors
on the Brazilian stage but also play a crucial role in
developing Brazil’s next generation of sustainability
leaders,” said Vira.
