The phenomenology and the sanocreatological conception of psychic health that describes
factors and mechanisms forming and maintaining the pattern of psychic health, the formation
of neuron ensembles, the psycho-functional and the valuation-executive systems are presented
in the paper. The genetically and ontogenetically conditioned systems which participate in the
formation and the maintenance of psychic health are examined.

Sunfl ower downy mildew induced by Plasmopara halstedii F. Berl et de Toni causes
signifi cant yield losses reaching 4-6 c/ha and is considered one of the most devastating diseases
of sunfl ower. The review includes current data regarding the pathogen life cycle, diagnostics
and symptoms of the disease, economic impact and phytosanitary measures, nomenclature
and genetic variability of the known races, Pl resistance genes and molecular markers linked
with these.

SPECIES COMPOSITION AND SEASONAL HUMAN BITING ACTIVITY OF
MOSQUITOES (DIPTERA: CULICIDAE) IN THE RECREATIONAL AREAS OF THE

This is the fi rst report on the species composition and seasonal human biting activity of
mosquitoes in the of. Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. In total, 3255 adult mosquitoes were
collected in eight recreational areas. Sampling occurred by means of two methods: human landing
collection and net-catches from vegetation. Altogether 22 mosquito species in 9 genera were
found representing 55% of Culicidae species diversity in the Republic of Moldova. Seventeen
anthropophilic species with different seasonal biting activity patterns have been found in human
landing collections. Aedes vexans was the most frequently captured species (N = 1,514; 46.5%)
followed by Ochlerotatus annulipes (N = 403; 12.4%), Dahliana geniculata (N = 330; 10.1%),
Culex modestus (N = 312; 9.6%), Coquillettidia richiardii (N = 144; 4.4%) and Oc. riparius (N
= 117; 3.6%).
