We are second in the world after China in carpet

export

Noting that Turkey is the second country after China

with 2.3 billion dollars in exports GAHİB, President

Ahmet Kaplan said “Turkey, after China’s carpet

exports, with about 2.3 billion dollars, is the second

country in the world. As a member of the Southeastern

Anatolia Exporters’ Association, the carpet

exports we have made are 1.5 billion dollars. This

constitutes 66.5% of Turkey’s carpet export. Carpet

sector in Gaziantep is a locomotive sector. Approximately

150 manufacturers in the sector, more than

700 exporters directly employ 25,000 people. Together

with a large number of sub-industry and supplier

companies, it provides indirect employment to 50

thousand people”.

Good news from Rector Gür for carpet design department

Stating the importance of the design for not only

carpet industry but all sectors, Gaziantep University

Rector Ali Gure gave a good news to Gaziantep carpet

producers by opening carpet design department at

the university and said “We need designers for carpet

industry, one of the most important sectors of Gaziantep

and Turkey. In the world, design has a very high

added value in terms of added value. If the world holds

a sixty percent share of the machine carpet, Gaziantep

has to make every effort not to leave this share.

There is not any design department in the universities

in Turkey. We are working on the establishment of

this department at Gaziantep University. The carpet

design department will be opened in a short time and

when it is opened, we will make a new generation that

makes qualified and qualified beautiful designs”.

and sector representatives, the first 5 works were

awarded. Gülbahar Gümüşten Infinity won the first

prize with Infinity design, the second was Şansım

Televi Boğa with Prehistoric Narration, Nazlı Parçaoğlu

won the third prize with Aura, Güneş Turhan won

the fourth prize with Lodos and Şenay Subaşı became

the fifth with Rusty. As a result of the competition, 15

thousand TL was given to the first, 11 thousand TL

to the second, 8 thousand TL to the third, while the

fourth and fifth ones took laptop. The other finalists of

the competition were given various awards and participation

certificates.

Academics, designers and industry representatives

were the guests of the design days

Within the scope of Design Days 2019 activities, academics,

designers and industry representatives expressed

their opinions by participating in discussions

and panels held on the carpet and fashion and declared

the importance of carpets and its future. Kastamonu

They designed, the carpet producers of Gaziantep

wove

For 6th Machinery Carpet Design Contest, realized

with the slogan “Design, let’s weave”, 126 design applications

were taken. As a result of the evaluation of

the first jury, 20 designs were qualified for the finals.

These 20 designs turned into carpet with the support

of the sponsoring companies. Among the designs
