THE
FRIGHTENING
CUSTOMS IN
SULAWESI
Text & photos: Hoang Bao
When it comes to
Indonesian tourism, Vietnamese
tourists still seem unfamiliar
with Sulawesi. We tend to
think of places like Bali,
Lombok, Bromo and Yogya.
However, this country, which
has a wide array of islands,
boasts plenty of exceptional
and splendid lands that attract
many tourists. Even Indonesian
people dream of setting foot
on the unique islands of
their country at least once.
Being the fourth largest
island in Indonesia and the
eleventh largest in the world,
Sulawesi is home to the Tana
Toraja tribe who, amidst the
mysterious mountains and
forests of South Sulawesi,
still preserve their startling
customs as they have had for
hundreds of years.
