tomografi, pozitron emisyon tomografisi (PET BT), MR
(manyetik rezonans), endoskopik yöntemler (bronkoskopi,
kolonoskopi vb.) onkolojide tanıda ve takipte kullanılan
önemli yöntemlerdir.
Tıbbın gelişmesine paralel olarak yakın geçmişte yeni
yöntemler de hayatımızda yer almaya başlayacaktır. Son
Palyatif bakım, hastalığın her döneminde
hastanın ağrılarını azaltma, hayat kalitesini düzeltme,
beslenme desteği sağlama vb. konularda duyulan ihtiyaçları
karşılamaktadır. Palyatif bakımın tanı aşamasından itibaren
erken dönemde başlaması tedavi sürecine ve yaşam
süresinin uzatılmasına olumlu katkılar sağlar.
What are the diagnostic tools in oncology?
The most important and definitive diagnostic tool in
oncology is the making biopsy, in other words taking
a small part from the developing tissue in the body.
Also imaging methods such as ultrasound, computed
tomography, positron emission tomography (PET),
MR (magnetic resonance), endoscopic methods
(bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, etc.) are important
methods used in diagnosis and follow-up in oncology.
In parallel with the development of medicine, new
methods in the recent past will begin to take place in our
lives. Molecular genetic diagnoses and tests in recent
years have led to significant differences and innovations
in determining the treatment of the disease.
What is oncology treatment and what are the
stages of oncology treatment?
Oncology treatment; It consists of many treatment
methods aimed at eliminating cancerous cells and
tissues occurring in patients’ body. According to the type
and stage of cancer; Local treatments such as surgery,
radiotherapy, embolization, and systemic therapies
known as chemotherapy are the main treatment
methods of cancer. Systemic therapies consist of
subcategories such as classical chemotherapy,
biologically targeted smart drugs, hormonal therapies
and immunotherapies.
What are the stages of relapse and remission?
The relapse of the disease after relapse of cancer
treatment is called relapse. The complete disappearance
of the disease and disease symptoms by treatment
methods is called remission.
At what stage is palliative care required?
Palliative care; It covers all medical applications to
alleviate the signs and symptoms of cancer due to both
its associated and treatment-related side effects.
Palliative care meets the needs of patients in every
period of the disease such as reducing the pain of the
patient, improving the quality of life, providing nutrition
support. Early initiation of palliative care from the
diagnosis stage provides positive contributions to the
treatment process and prolongation of life.
