Endelig vil Dongtan håndtere både vand og affald så miljømæssigt som muligt, ligesom forbruget af<br />
vand skal reduceres med omkring 40 %.<br />
Tilsammen vil alle disse tiltag betyde, at Dongtans økologiske fodaftryk, som Malcolm Smith be-<br />
nævnte en bys forbrug og påvirkning af omgivelserne, vil blive væsentlig mindre end fx Shanghais og<br />
