MARTE MEO is a development supporting programme
that works with video recordings. The method can
be integrated in various social, medical, therapeutic
and pedagogic areas.
Especially in the field of working with children,
youths and families, the MARTE MEO method has
proved of value.
In this area, there are numerous programmes for
the support of the most different kinds of development
needs. To name only a few:
•MARTE MEO programme ADD/ADHD;
•MARTE MEO programme autism;
• MARTE MEO programme cry-babies;
•MARTE MEO programme day-care centres/school;
•MARTE MEO programme integration of foster
children.
MARTE MEO resulted from the necessity to give
parents and children with special needs clearly
phrased, helpful and concrete information that are
comprehensible and suitable for their personal daily
routine. The concern of the parents/custodians is
the assignment and the aim that has to be compiled.
Note: MARTE MEO does not only concentrate on the
parents-child relationship entirely, but is a development
supporting programme of »the most
different kind of genesis«.
A film of a daily situation of the patient is recorded.
With the aid of checklists a detailed video interaction
analysis is carried out. This visualises the
abilities, skills and communication structure of
everyone involved. Strengths are recognised and
can be activated and further developed.
The analysis forms the shared working basis.
In the analysis discussion with video material
concrete understanding and opportunities are
conveyed that aim at training development supporting
behaviour in small steps.
The Pedagogic Guiding Idea
MARTE MEO focused on daily moments of contact.
The video is an excellent instrument to strongly
visualise development initiatives and thus development
opportunities. Strengths and capabilities
are the basis of the counselling process and are
pointed out by the use of concrete MARTE MEO information
and make further development possible.
