56. Sitzung des Kuratoriums
Das Kuratorium traf sich am 28. und 29. April
2005 zu seiner 56. Jahrestagung in Braunschweig.
Die Tagung begann mit der Besichtigung ausgewählter
Messplätze durch die Kuratoren und
Gäste und setzte sich am Nachmittag mit Berichten
zu der Entwicklung in zwei Abteilungen
der PTB fort. Unter der Überschrift „Metrologie
in der Chemie – Wie ist der Stand – Wie geht es
weiter“ stellte Dr. Wolfgang Hemminger, Leiter
der Abteilung 3, den Anwesenden diesen
Bereich vor. Anschließend referierte Prof. Dr.
Hans Koch, Leiter der Abteilung 8, über die
„Neuausrichtung der Metrologischen Informationstechnik
als Querschnittsaufgabe“. Traditionell
wurde der Nachmittag durch Vorträge
junger Wissenschaftler der PTB abgerundet, die
im Rahmen eines Kolloquiums aktuelle Forschungsarbeiten
vorstellten.

Die Sitzung am 29. April 2005 wurde erstmals
von Dr. Eckhard Franz eröffnet, der als neuer
für die PTB zuständiger Abteilungsleiter VIII im
BMWA zugleich neuer Präsident des Kuratoriums
der PTB ist. Dr. Franz hob in seinem
Vortrag besonders den großen Beitrag der PTB
für den technologie- und innovationsorientierten
Mittelstand hervor und bezeichnete das sehr
gute Ergebnis der Evaluation in der PTB als
wichtige Grundlage einer positiven Entwicklung
der PTB. Abschließend berichtete Dr. Franz
über die Umsetzung der europäischen Mess-

The Board of Consultants met on 28 th and 29 th
April 2005 for its 56 th annual meeting in
Braunschweig.
The meeting began with a tour of selected
measurement set-ups by Board members and
guests and was followed in the afternoon by
reports on the development in two divisions of
PTB. Under the heading “Metrology in Chemistry
– What is the state of things? – What are the
future prospects?” Dr. Wolfgang Hemminger,
head of Division 3, presented this area to those
present. This was followed by a lecture given by
Prof. Dr. Hans Koch, head of Division 8, on the
“Redirection of metrological information technology
as cross-sectional task”. True to tradition,
the afternoon was rounded off by lectures given
by young PTB scientists who presented current
research work within the context of a colloquium.
The meeting on 29 th April 2005 was, for the first
time, opened by Dr. Eckhard Franz who is both
the new head of Department VIII at the BMWA
and responsible for PTB, and at the same time
the new President of the Board of Consultants of
the PTB. In his lecture, he particularly emphasized
the great contribution of the PTB to the
technologically and innovatively oriented
medium-sized businesses and described the
very good result of the evaluation in the PTB as
important basis for a positive development of
the PTB. In conclusion, Dr. Franz reported on
the transposition of the European Measuring
Instruments Directive (MID) into national law
and its possible effects on the PTB as well as on
the now existing draft of the accreditation law.
