den Menschen nennen, die in Deutschland
und in anderen (VEM) Kirchen dieses Buch
lesen und unser Material benutzen?
Ich möchte allenfolgendes sagen:

Wir sollten über den Sinn und die Bedeutung
von Partnerschaft im VEM Kontext nachdenken.
Für unsere Kirchen in Indonesien sollten wir
intensiv arbeiten, um unsere Gedanken, Gefühle,
Sorgen, Freuden und das Glück über
unser Land und unsere Kirche miteinander
zu verbinden. Als Indonesierinnen haben wir
die Pancasila (die Verfassung und die fünf
gerechte gemeinschaft von männern und frauen gottesdienst 2011
Informationsteil
Grundsätze der nationalen Ideologie), die
uns verbindet und als Christinnen haben wir
das Gebot der Liebe, das uns leitet. Ich hoffe,
dass wir uns so in dem notwendigen Maße
unterstützen können.
An alle Menschen, die den gleichen Glauben
haben: Unsere Geschichte in Papua soll nicht
unsere Partnerschaft stören, sondern uns alle
stärken, damit wir sehen, wie komplex der
Kontext der VEM Mitgliedskirchen ist.
Lasst uns vereint sein in unserer Evangelischen
Mission an jedem Ort, in jeder Kultur
und in all unserer Hoffnung.

Interview with Betty Sarewo
Dear Betty, you are talking about the P3W.
Could you explain a little bit the history of the
centre and as well as the task and the current
state of the centre and the challenges in the
moment?
P3W-GKI means Women Empowerment and
Training Centre of Evangelical Christian Church
in Tanah Papua.
P3W was born on April 2nd, 1962 by the church
leaders at the time. Our founding father is the
church (GKI was born on October 26, 1956),
even they were all male but they thought “WOE
TO A NATION WHERE MEN ADVANCE IN
KNOEWLEDGE AND SKILL, WHILE THE WO-
MEN DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE CHANGE
OF AGES”. So since that these words become a
motto of P3W. And together with the church, we
try to encourage and guidence the Papuan people,
especially women to experience formal and
non-formal education and to develop their life in
every opportunity.

At the first start, this institution was focusing on
women and family health care. So they used to
come from very remote area in Papua. Later on,
they were trained to educate women to become
social workers – this means they will not only
help their own family but also others, villages and
the whole society.
In this main goal, women were sent to P3W since
1962 until now (so there are already 25 generations
to be social workers till now). As an Alumni/
Graduates they work almost all over Papua. That
is why the first name of this institution was ‘Training
for Social Worker Centre’. Later on, there
were several changes on names based on the
needs of the institution. But the last is P3W-GKI.
We could say that P3W-GKI is the oldest women
institution in Papua.
So, in the first time P3W in Jayapura only had
one section, it was the training for social workers.
But now there are four sections: Education and
Training (Section 1), Information, Documentation
