I would like to switch into English because we have a guest from an
Arab country. So let me say a bit about this location. Seven years ago
the University of Hildesheim had the great chance to get one of the
largest music-ethnological collections in Europe to this place. Some
50.000 items, mostly tapes from all over the world including the Arabian
Peninsula arrived here in Hildesheim. We have some 4.500 musical
instruments; you see here only a very small part of this collection.
And we have some 10.000 books on music from around the world,
and it is Professor Vogels who is director of the center for World Music
at our university. Professor Vogels is teacher at the Hochschule für
Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. And we have a close cooperation
with the Hochschule für Musik, Hannover. We work together
but the location of this Center for World Music is Hildesheim.
We have Arabian music here but we do not have musicians from Arabia.
So you may have realised, that the music part played by Nizar
and Kalem are Persian music and when you come back we will play
german music, persian music, arabian music and indian music. So we
are growing and what we would like to do is to make this really a
world center.
Dr. Olms wollte die Veranstaltung gern im Juli stattfinden lassen.
Er sagte zu mir, da scheint die Sonne, und wir können gut draußen
einen Empfang machen. Einer der ganz seltenen Fälle, in denen er
nicht Recht hatte. Ich wollte die Veranstaltung im Oktober stattfinden
lassen. Dann hätten wir nämlich unseren Kulturcampus Domäne
Marienburg in einem passablen Zustand. Einige von Ihnen kennen
den Ort, andere sollten wiederkommen, um ihn kennenzulernen.
Das zentrale Gebäude ist ein hohes gotisches Haus aus der Mitte des
14. Jahrhunderts, und mithilfe der Landesregierung wird dieses zum
Kulturcampus. Dafür möchte ich auch an dieser Stelle sehr herzlich
