Umgebung für den Ingenieur der Zukunft: Labor im LESC.
Environment for the future engineer: LESC laboratory.
lar with HFG and to exchange students. The LESC
intends to develop a study course for the “future
engineer at the interface of science, industry, and
society.” This is reflected best by the concept of the
“virtual prototype engineer”. He represents models
and processes virtually in three dimensions. In this
way, they become visible or accessible by anybody.
For example, the LESC might be applied to
demonstrate the illumination concept of a square in
the city. The future engineer visualizes the plans and
specifications of the urban planners. Shadows or
light impressions are made visible and “accessible.”
Many uses seem a long way off. But if mechanical
engineering, arts, and new media will be combined
in a novel type of study course, “this will be a sensation
worldwide”, says Esther Legant.
For the first time, the Karlsruhe 3D Alliance addressed
a broad public with its 3D film festival “Beyond”
in late May 2011 in Karlsruhe. Among others,
Werner Herzog’s new documentary film, “Cave
of Forgotten Dreams,” was shown. The festival also
covered current productions and trends of threedimensional
films for the cinema and television.
LESC beteiligt an Karlsruher 3D-Allianz
Karlsruhe.
