Coil weight 36 t max.
Pack weight 2 to 10 t
Coil weights depend on strip dimension
and mandrel diameter (508 or 610 mm)
Full and half coils are supplied without
weld seam. For other coil weights
ordered, a minimum of one weld seam
is to be expected. Marking and detailing
of weld seams must be specified in the
order. Shipment safety regulations
require a coil width to coil outer diameter
ratio of min. 0.7.
Marking
Products are marked by means of adhesive
labels which give important details
of the customer’s order and of the product
quality.
The coil and heat numbers are important
reference data for queries regarding
quality.
During the final inspection the sheets
and coils are generally stamped with
water-soluble paint. The side to be
stamped is decided by the customer.
Packing
The type of packing depends upon the
route of shipment, the frequency of
transshipment, the method of storage,
the lifting equipment of the customer
and the sensitivity of the material. It is
therefore a matter of agreement
between the customer and the supplier.
Packing.
For the purpose of reliable designation
and consistent execution of the packing,
a new identification system has been
developed by German sheet producers
where each different packing element is
coded using a letter and a number.
The combination of the codes of the
individual packing elements characterizes
the sum of the packing measures,
and the sequence of these codes corresponds
to the sequence of the packing
measures.
The packing elements normal for
sheets, coils and slit strips are described
in the following illustrations. Further
information is given in the “Richtlinien
für die Verpackung, Lagerung und
Transport von unbeschichtetem und
beschichtetem Feinblech in Tafeln,
Rollen und Spaltband”, published by the
German sheet-steel producers.
