1.7 Special functions II: Operation of the emergency exit control unit using electricalsecurity lock 809The effeff electrical security lock 809 is a self-locking panic lock with electrically controllable external handle andintegrated monitoring and switching contacts.An emergency exit security system with emergency exit control unit 720-30 or 720-32 can be combined with theeffeff electrical safety lock 809 (upgrade version with four monitoring contacts). This unit combination can be usedto implement a series of functions which are required particularly at outside doors in certain applications.• The closed door is always mechanically locked, as the electrical safety lock features a self-locking functionwhich automatically extends the bolt when the door is closed.• It is possible to pass through the door from the inside at any time, although this is monitored effectively bythe emergency exit security system.• The door can be passed through from the outside with a key without the use of an additional key-operatedswitch. This function is initiated by the profile cylinder contact of the electrical safety lock.• For authorized pass-through from the outside or the inside, the door can be released by actuating a button.This actuation process can be performed from a central release key, or from an access control system orsimilar.Passing through the door from the insideOperation of a door fitted with this type of devicecombination is not different from that of a normal doorequipped with an electrical emergency exit securitysystem.As the internal handle of the electrical securitylock has a panic function, this direction through thedoor is only controlled by the electrical emergencyexit security system. This must therefore initially beunlocked by a suitable actuation process by theemergency exit control unit, for example at the keyoperatedswitch of the door terminal or terminalmodule, or released by a hazard warning alarm(emergency button, fire alarm system etc.) before it ispossible to pass through the door.Passing through the door from theoutsideThe outer handle of the electrical security lock iselectrically controllable. Without being actuated, it isin the idle mode, when actuated the dead bolt andlatch bolt remain locked and the door cannot beopened.By means of electrical actuation, the outer handleof the electrical security lock is connected to the lockmechanism and then has the same functionalcharacteristics as the internal handle. To be able topass through the door from the outside, this meansthat both the electrical security lock has to beactuated and the emergency exit control systemunlocked.When the two control systems are combined,these are interconnected in such a way that when theemergency exit security system is unlocked, at thesame time the electrical security lock is actuated viathe emergency exit control device.By means of a switching contact integrated in theelectrical security lock which is actuated by the profilecylinder, on the other hand it is also possible to initiatea temporary release of the emergency exit securitysystem. This allows the door to be passed through atany time from the outside using a key. No additionalkey-operated switch is required. If the door is openedand closed again, it is secured by both systemsagain, whereby the mechanical locked status isretained even in case of a total failure of the energysupply.55
