Forschung an der Kunststofftechnik Leoben
Research at the Department of Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben
Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL) beteiligt. Zudem stärken
das Forschungsprofil der Kunststofftechnik in Leoben zwei
Christian Doppler (CD) Labore zu den Themen „Funktionelle
Druckertinten auf Polymerbasis“ (Leiter: Assoz.Prof. Dr. Thomas
Griesser) und „Hocheffiziente Composite Verarbeitung“ (Leiter:
Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Schledjewski).
Themenbereichen: Additive Fertigung, Energieeffizienz in Verarbeitung
und Anwendung, Leichtbau und Hybridstrukturen, Oberflächeneigenschaften,
Biogene Kunststoffe, Lebensdauervorhersage-Konzepte
sowie Recycling.
In accordance with the core competencies of the Montanuniversitaet
Leoben, the Department of Polymer Engineering and
Science integrates all necessary special fields along the value
chain “from the material to the final product”. They range from
chemistry of polymeric materials via material science and testing
of polymers, the designing of plastics and composite materials,
the polymer processing to the application of plastic components
and recycling. Consequently, the research topics addressed by the
department are equally wide-ranging.
The operational implementation of the topics is carried out predominantly
in funded projects. Therefore, the department benefits
from the support of various national and international framework
programmes. In the field of pre-competitive cooperative research
with companies, the department is as a scientific partner significantly
involved in the research programme of the Polymer Competence
Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL). Additionally, two Christian
Doppler Laboratories dealing with “Functional and Polymer Based
Inkjet Inks” (Assoc.Prof. Dr. Thomas Griesser) and “High Efficient
Composite Processing“ (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Schledjewski) add to the
strength of the department’s research profile. The scientific output
of the projects of 2015 and 2016 was impressive: 30 dissertations
have been completed and in more than 200 oral presentations and
more than 400 publications scientific knowledge has been presented
internationally.
The contributions on the following pages provide an insight into
the broad-based research activity of the last two years; in numerous
individual projects, central questions were dealt with and innovative
solutions were generated. The work of this research period
2015/2016 was characterized by the following topics: Despite
the broad range of projects an emphasis on the following topics
can be identified: additive manufacturing, energy efficiency in
processing and application, lightweight constructions and hybrid
structures, surface characteristics, biogenous plastics, lifetime estimation
and recycling.
