The Energy Globe Award was founded in 1999 and annually honors
outstanding, sustainable projects focusing on resource conservation,
energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies.
Energy Globe Styria Award 2016 für „Rec2TecPart“
Award-winning concept „Rec2TecPart“
In April 2016, the Chair of Polymer Processing at the Montanuniversitaet
Leoben was awarded the Energy Globe Styria Award (category „research“)
for the development of a cost-efficient process for the production
of high-quality functional components made of polymer recyclates.
Rec2TecPart can reduce CO 2
emissions by at least 25 % and save 20 %
of raw material costs compared to the use of virgin material. This is done
with a continuous process from the collection system through the plastic
recycler to the polymer processor. An application of the Rec2TecPart
process towards large industrial upcycling, for example in the automotive
industry, is conceivable.
Europäischer Innovationspreis EARTO 2016 an PCCL und Semperit
European innovation award EARTO 2016 goes to PCCL and Semperit
Die Firma Semperit und die Polymer Competence Center Leoben
GmbH (PCCL) wurden am 12. Oktober 2016 in Brüssel für die Entwicklung
des weltweit ersten anti-allergenen Operationshandschuhs
Sempermed® Syntegra UV mit dem europäischen Innovationspreis
EARTO 2016 ausgezeichnet.
On October 12 th , 2016, Semperit and the Polymer Competence Center
Leoben GmbH (PCCL) received the European innovation award EARTO 2016
in Brussels for the development of Sempermed® Syntegra UV, the first
anti-allergenic surgical glove worldwide.
With innovative production technology, unique product characteristics and
an energy-efficient manufacturing process, both development partners
prevailed against a total of 35 competitors. A unique feature of this product
is that the surgical glove - which is made from polyisoprene, a material
similar to natural latex - is cured using UV light instead of potentially
allergenic chemical accelerators.
