Alois Mock-Saal of the Austrian Federal Ministry for
Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs.

The Federal Minister for Europe, Integration
and Foreign Affairs Karin
Kneissl, welcomed a splendid
gathering of guests – among them
the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps,
many ambassadors, an impressive
assembly of international and Austrian personalities,
founding members and the current board of
Welcome to Austria who always enable discoveries
in a variety of areas of Viennese cultural life.
Musical interludes were performed by Prof.
Angelika Saupe-Berchtold,
Benita Ferrero-Waldner,
Karin Kneissl
Mariagrazia Pistan-Zand on the harp accompanied
by Renate Linortner playing the flute. The
association’s initiators, former Minister for Foreign
Affairs and former member of the European
Commission, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Gabrielle
Schallenberg, currently Honorary President
of Welcome to Austria, both addressed the issues
of forging enduring international friendships at
the personal level as well as of giving diplomats
and their families more intimate insights into the
