Who knows - especially in these times - what the future
will bring. Paulo Coelho says in The Alchemist: "It's the
possibility of having a dream come true that makes life
interesting." We know that: a writer, screenwriter or
movie director dreams of a future, visualises the
dreams and, puff, years later they come true. Why were
these people visionaries? Or could they even see into
the future? Did they want something so much that it
came true?
Every thought that we communicate in an appropriate
form is like a seed that is sown and – in the best case –
triggers something and causes it to happen. The basic
conditions for this viral event are, of course, that the
thought, dream or vision is interesting for many. And that it
is communicated in the appropriate way, which today is
probably the equivalent of social networks. This does not
necessarily mean Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and
Google; social networks used to be – quite simply – friends,
acquaintances and colleagues.
Not every innovative person gets an idea out of nowhere,
in most cases it is a further development of what already
exists (what was already communicated) or a combination,
the connection of often obvious things, which in its
connection result in something bigger, something with
sudden showering power, something – viral. In times of
Corona this word has of course a somewhat negative
connotation, but de facto a thought, an idea, a vision,
articulated, shared and "liked" at exactly the right time, is
viral. They behave like our corona virus, they are viral and
in modern times they often cause exponential curves. A
viral idea infects not only one other person, but several
people and these several people are infected – and when
they tell, share or link up with it, several other people are
infected as well. And when thinking about it, the story is
developed further and combined, a completely natural
process. We all know about the silent post and know that in
the end something completely different comes out than
what we originally meant. Why? Because every person,
when passing on the thought, adds his/her own world,
his/her own experiences and knowledge to it and thereby
changes it. The change has already taken place.
So, if you want to change something, you should dream
and trust that your dream could also come true. The more
exciting an imagined vision is, the greater the probability
that a new vision, or even a new innovation, will emerge
when it spreads exponentially. This is probably one reason
YOU MAY SAY, I'M A DREAMER, BUT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE
IMAGINE
why some inventions are developed independently by
several people at the same time. There are enough
examples of this in history.
Those who know these basic conditions for innovation and
evolution – i.e. those innovations that prove themselves in
the course of time and are therefore also accepted by
"nature" – can go back to the beginning and sow the seeds
in good faith so that the seed will one day develop into a
grown tree and create its own habitat. A basis for the life
of many other creatures, of – let's call it that here – nature.
Nature is therefore not static, it is subject to constant
change, not only through growth and death, through
seasons or climate change, through entropy and evolution
but also through learning, adding and combining.
Human nature is also not static, it is subject to the same
processes and changes. We see or hear, feel or taste, and
sometimes it is simply our hormones that lead to an
emotion, something that moves us - literally - to become
active. And in doing so, something real, tangible, a real
change is created from a vision.
The following ideas, or let's call them visions, are not just
further developments or combinations of what we have
already experienced, but could just as well be reality
tomorrow, depending on their innovative potential and
whether many people consider them desirable and tell
others about them or make them reality. And, of course,
they also have the effect on the person who writes them
down or shares them in his or her own "social networks". If
the feedback is right, i.e. if the idea is "liked" enough, they
also bring about the wish to implement this own vision as
quickly as possible.
"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to
achieve: the fear of failure", Coelho writes. Given the
challenges we face after Corona and in the midst of
climate change, we should have the courage to speak out
about our dreams of a better tomorrow. Maybe they will go
viral and then really come true.
