The ESBG (European Straw Bale Gathering)
will take place in 2021 as a joint event in
10 countries simultaneously.
The ESBA member organisations organise
three days of straw bale and clay building
workshops, lectures, events and discussions
in the summer. The best events are broadcast
live on YouTube to reach thousands of
visitors via video screenings and online.
Television and radio stations will report on
the major event and a flash mob will
simultaneously raise awareness...

With Acteco.eu, we have established an
online platform for eco-building with the
support of the EU and have already carried
out the first online courses (with trainer
support). Not only because of corona and
travel restrictions are more and more people
deciding to do theoretical straw building
courses online via zoom and learning
platforms, but also because online learning
is fun...

Combining what belongs together: In the
Erasmus+ project Jump! we asked: "What
makes a good training?", what do we need to
change in the learning methods so that ...
yes, so that something changes. We have
collected methods, games and other
resources with the toolbox, especially for
trainers, as well as on ACTeco, plus the house
databases. In addition we are thinking about
a common future for straw & clay
organisations in the EU, all this has to come
together now...

In 2021 asbn offers its members numerous
new services: Straw construction details,
house plans and building specifications will
be available to members. After the house
database on strawbuilding.eu, which was codesigned
by asbn, became a great success,
there is now also the possibility to register
your own straw bale house on baubiologie.at,
which will then also be shown on the ESBA's
map of Europe. The service is aimed at straw
farmers, architects and private house
owners...

The first three UP STRAW demo buildings
(Plankstetten Abbey, DE; conversion and
wrapping of the Roomley sports hall near
Tilburg, NL and the visitor centre near
Hastings, UK) become lighthouse projects for
European straw bale construction. The
buildings close to completion already show
that straw bale construction is the most
sustainable way of building, even on a large
scale and in urban environment...
