12th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition July 5 - 9, 2023 Wernigerode, Germany International variety meets a historical backdrop Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world. The colorful city in the Harz mountain range attracts visitors with its unique charm of medieval architecture and moreover with its musical characteristics: Three renowned German choirs come from this small town. The historical town hall and the timber-framed city center give the festival its unique setting. At the same time dedicated inhabitants, who act as individual choir assistants, ensure a familiar atmosphere. This competition, named after Johannes Brahms, puts a musical focus on this German composer and the German romantics of the 19th century. Numerous advanced trainings offer interested choirs outstanding possibilities of mutual learning and professional training e.g. with evaluation performances and individual coaching. Due to its familiar character, the beautiful backdrop and the international variety this festival has established itself as one of INTERKULTUR’s most popular events.

Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world. Chorfestival & Wettbewerb. Einmal mehr<br />
wird in den ersten Julitagen Wernigerode<br />
zu einem Zentrum der Chormusik.<br />
<strong>International</strong>es Flair und Darbietungen<br />
auf hohem Niveau zeichnen <strong>Festival</strong> und<br />
Wettbewerb aus. Musikliebhaberinnen<br />
und -liebhaber verbinden mit <strong>Brahms</strong> und<br />
Wernigerode natürlich auch dessen Alt-<br />
Rhapsodie.<br />
Die Wernigeröder Kulturl<strong>and</strong>schaft bietet<br />
beste Voraussetzungen für diese renommierte<br />
Veranstaltung. Überhaupt kann<br />
man in Sachsen-Anhalt Musik in ihrer großen<br />
Vielfalt erleben: Vom Frühbarock bis<br />
zur zeitgenössischen Musik, von der Oper<br />
bis zum volkstümlichen Gesang. Sachsen-<br />
Anhalt ist ein Musikl<strong>and</strong> mit einer großen<br />
Tradition. Der Stadtsingechor zu Halle ist<br />
über 900 Jahre alt und zählt damit zu den<br />
ältesten Chören in Deutschl<strong>and</strong>. Und der<br />
Chorverb<strong>and</strong> Sachsen-Anhalt ist heute<br />
der größte Laienchorverb<strong>and</strong> Ostdeutschl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
Ihm gehören derzeit 346 Chöre mit<br />
22 zusätzlichen Chorgruppen an.<br />
Musik verbindet. Sie ist gelebte Vielfalt<br />
und überwindet Grenzen. Musik ermöglicht<br />
Teilhabe und bringt Menschen zusammen.<br />
Wer im Chor singt, singt nicht<br />
für sich alleine. Sie und er stimmen in ein<br />
großes „Wir“ ein. Und niem<strong>and</strong> ist ausgeschlossen<br />
von diesem „Wir“. Musik wirkt<br />
gemeinschaftsbildend. Für dieses großartige<br />
Erlebnis sorgen in diesem Jahr<br />
anlässlich des <strong>Festival</strong>s 27 Chöre aus 14<br />
Nationen.<br />
Mein Dank gilt dem Förderverein INTER-<br />
KULTUR und der Stadt Wernigerode. Ich<br />
danke allen Sponsoren und den vielen<br />
ehrenamtlichen Helferinnen und Helfern,<br />
ohne die eine Veranstaltung wie diese<br />
