12th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition July 5 - 9, 2023 Wernigerode, Germany International variety meets a historical backdrop Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world. The colorful city in the Harz mountain range attracts visitors with its unique charm of medieval architecture and moreover with its musical characteristics: Three renowned German choirs come from this small town. The historical town hall and the timber-framed city center give the festival its unique setting. At the same time dedicated inhabitants, who act as individual choir assistants, ensure a familiar atmosphere. This competition, named after Johannes Brahms, puts a musical focus on this German composer and the German romantics of the 19th century. Numerous advanced trainings offer interested choirs outstanding possibilities of mutual learning and professional training e.g. with evaluation performances and individual coaching. Due to its familiar character, the beautiful backdrop and the international variety this festival has established itself as one of INTERKULTUR’s most popular events.

Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world. The colorful city in the Harz mountain range attracts visitors with its unique charm of medieval architecture and moreover with its musical characteristics: Three renowned German choirs come from this small town.

Der Puzangalan Children's <strong>Choir</strong> wurde 2008 gegründet und besteht aus Kindern<br />
der ethnischen Gruppe der Paiwan. Puzangalan bedeutet Hoffnung und das Ziel des<br />
preisgekrönten Chores ist es über den Gesang Freude zu verbreiten.<br />
The Puzangalan Children's <strong>Choir</strong> was founded in 2008 <strong>and</strong> consists of children from<br />
the Paiwan ethnic group. Puzangalan means hope <strong>and</strong> the aim of the award-winning<br />
choir is to spread joy through song.<br />
2 VOCASOUL CHOIR<br />

Der Vocasoul <strong>Choir</strong> wurde 2013 gegründet und wird geleitet von Moshe Nir. Mit<br />
seinem breiten und vielseitigen Repertoire nahm der Chor bereits erfolgreich an<br />
vielen Wettbewerben teil.<br />
The Vocasoul <strong>Choir</strong> was founded in 2013 <strong>and</strong> is directed by Moshe Nir. With its<br />
broad <strong>and</strong> varied repertoire, the choir has already successfully participated in many<br />
competitions.<br />
3 THE KUMASI EVANGEL CHOIR–GHANA<br />

Der Kumasi Evangel <strong>Choir</strong> – Ghana ist ein überkonfessioneller Chor zu dessen<br />
Repertoire trad. Volkslieder, afroamerikanische Spirituals, aber auch klassische<br />
Musik zählen. Getreu dem Motto „With hearts, we praise“ unterstützt er mit<br />
Spendenaktionen Kinder in Krankenhäusern in Kumasi.<br />
The Kumasi Evangel <strong>Choir</strong> – Ghana is a non-denominational choir whose repertoire<br />
includes traditional folk songs, African-American spirituals as well as classical<br />
music. True to the motto "With hearts, we praise", the choir supports children in<br />
hospitals in Kumasi with fundraising campaigns.
