12th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition July 5 - 9, 2023 Wernigerode, Germany International variety meets a historical backdrop Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world. The colorful city in the Harz mountain range attracts visitors with its unique charm of medieval architecture and moreover with its musical characteristics: Three renowned German choirs come from this small town. The historical town hall and the timber-framed city center give the festival its unique setting. At the same time dedicated inhabitants, who act as individual choir assistants, ensure a familiar atmosphere. This competition, named after Johannes Brahms, puts a musical focus on this German composer and the German romantics of the 19th century. Numerous advanced trainings offer interested choirs outstanding possibilities of mutual learning and professional training e.g. with evaluation performances and individual coaching. Due to its familiar character, the beautiful backdrop and the international variety this festival has established itself as one of INTERKULTUR’s most popular events.

Liebe Wernigeröder,<br />
liebe Freunde der Chormusik,<br />
herzlich willkommen zum mittlerweile<br />
12. <strong>International</strong>en <strong>Johannes</strong>-<strong>Brahms</strong>-<br />
Chorfestival & Wettbewerb in Wernigerode<br />
2023. Ich freue mich sehr, dass wir<br />
nach dieser schweren Zeit der letzten Jahre<br />
nun endlich wieder zusammenkommen<br />
können, um nicht nur gemeinsam Musik<br />
und Gesang zu genießen, sondern auch<br />
einen Austausch der Kulturen zu ermöglichen.<br />
Getreu unserem Motto „Singing together<br />
brings nations together“ freuen wir uns<br />
sehr in diesem Jahr 27 Chöre und Gruppen<br />
aus 14 Nationen begrüßen zu können.<br />
Darunter sind neben Chören aus zahlreichen<br />
europäischen Ländern auch Chöre<br />
aus Israel, Bolivien, Kanada, China, Südafrika,<br />
USA, Ghana und Chinese Taipei. Sie<br />
alle kommen zusammen, um inmitten der<br />
bunten Stadt am Harz ein Fest der Chormusik<br />
zu gestalten und zudem für internationales<br />
Flair zu sorgen.<br />
Mein besonderer Dank gilt der Stadtverwaltung<br />
Wernigerode, Herrn Oberbürgermeister<br />
Tobias Kascha und seinem<br />
ausgezeichneten Team, die gerade in<br />
diesen Tagen Großartiges leisten, damit<br />
sich alle Gäste wohlfühlen und die Wernigeröder<br />
ein schönes Fest erleben können.<br />
Einen herzlichen Dank möchte ich ebenfalls<br />
allen großen und kleinen Sponsoren<br />
und Unterstützern aussprechen, wie der<br />
L<strong>and</strong>esregierung Sachsen-Anhalt, den<br />
Stadtwerken Wernigerode sowie den zahlreichen<br />
Firmen und Personen, die einen<br />
besonderen Beitrag zum Gelingen des<br />
<strong>Festival</strong>s geleistet haben. Ihr großes Engagement<br />
und ihre Unterstützung tragen<br />
maßgeblich dazu bei, dass das <strong>International</strong>e<br />
<strong>Johannes</strong>-<strong>Brahms</strong>-Chorfestival &<br />
Wettbewerb nunmehr zu den beliebtesten<br />
und traditionsreichsten Chorveranstaltungen<br />
von INTERKULTUR zählt.<br />
Musik hat die Macht, Menschen zusammenzubringen<br />
und Grenzen zu überwinden.<br />
Und im Rahmen dieses internationalen<br />
Chorfestivals wünsche ich allen<br />
Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern, dass<br />
sie diese Möglichkeit nutzen, sich gegenseitig<br />
kennenlernen, vonein<strong>and</strong>er zu<br />
lernen, musikalisch wachsen und Erfahrungen<br />
