Ladies and gentlemen,
dear music-lovers, visitors and guests,
it’s been a four-year wait, but now the
time has finally come: the 12 th International
Johannes Brahms Choir Festival &
Competition is taking place in Wernigerode
again. As the host of this celebrated
festival, I cordially invite you to attend the
12th edition of the event in Wernigerode,
our “colourful town at the foot of the Harz
Mountains”.
When the time for the Choir Festival comes
around, Wernigerode becomes Northern
Germany’s centre for choral music.
Between July 5-9, 2023, we will be happy
to welcome 27 choirs from 14 nations
which will be presenting us with a wealth
of music and entertainment.
You can be sure that Wernigerode is looking
forward to this glittering festival and
everyone is getting ready to cheer on all
those participating in the search for the
best talent.
Thanks to the excellent organizational
work done by the town of Wernigerode and
the association INTERKULTUR e.V., the
well-loved Choir Festival promises to be
an incomparable experience. Many people
have worked together to assemble a
program with many highlights such as the
popular “choir parade” and the announcement
of Johannes Brahms Choir Prize.
The festival is not just about competing – it
is also a festival of human encounters and
friendly exchanges between music lovers.
Music connects. It is important to use the
language of music to encourage interaction
and mutual understanding.
My special thanks go out to the sponsors
and partners of the 12 th International Johannes
Brahms Choir Festival & Competition.
The support they provide makes a
valuable contribution to the success of the
event.
I am looking forward to this musical competition.
I hope all the participants will
have a successful contest and a pleasant
stay in our town. My wish for our guests is
that they will thoroughly enjoy the entertainment.
Yours sincerely, your Lord Mayor
Tobias Kascha
