Englische Rechtssprache II<br />
This course is designed to introduce law students and students of Anglistik<br />
to major areas and aspects of the British legal system. Cross-references to<br />
the US system will also be made. Reading comprehension exercises,<br />
involving the precise and quick recognition of recurrent lexical, grammatical<br />
and syntactic patterns, and written as well as oral assignments are meant to<br />
consolidate and develop students´ communicative competence in a<br />
challenging field of linguistic and cultural inquiry. Progress will be<br />
monitored by means of brief tests, and a Klausur will conclude the course.<br />

Inhalt:<br />

Contract Law will be the two major fields of inquiry. Cross-references to the<br />
US system will also be made. Reading comprehension exercises, involving<br />
the precise and quick recognition of recurrent lexical, grammatical and<br />
syntactic patterns, and written as well as oral assignments are meant to<br />
consolidate and develop students´ communicative competence in at least two<br />
special areas of the law. Prior attendance of `Englische Rechtssprache I´ is<br />
not obligatory though of some help. Progress will be monitored by means of<br />
brief tests, and a Klausur will conclude the course.<br />
