Foundations for Academic Achievement<br />

A course in acquiring study skills such as time<br />

management, note taking, reading comprehension, and<br />

test-taking strategies essential for academic success at<br />

An Orientation to Learning I<br />

Information on coping with the technicalities of being a<br />

college student—registration, matriculation, library use,<br />

This course utilizes the popular models of career theory<br />

and traditional personality assessments to help students<br />

identify interests, skills, and values and describe how they<br />

relate to a career choice. The decision-making model is<br />

utilized to synthesize personal information, and research<br />

is conducted on employment trends. By the end of the<br />

course, students will be familiarized with the job search<br />

process including resume writing, interviewing skills, and<br />

job search strategies.<br />

Career Development Internship<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

Engage in a mentoring/training type relationship with an<br />

employer in a career field of interest. Internships are<br />

established through the office of Career Development<br />

Services to aid in career decision-making, to make<br />

contacts with employers, and to evaluate employment<br />

opportunities firsthand.<br />

Intercultural Practicum I<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

This course will teach students advanced human relations<br />

skills and provide them the occasion for integrating<br />

intercultural theory and practice in an increasingly diverse<br />

society.<br />

Intercultural Practicum II<br />

2 Semester Hours<br />

This course will teach students advanced skills in crosscultural<br />

conflict management, intercultural leadership,<br />

strategies for organizational change in multiethnic<br />

settings, institutionalizing social change, and preparing<br />

personal action plans.<br />

Prerequisite: LIBA 291.<br />

Credit/No Credit grading.<br />

Completion of LIBA 291 and 292 earns the Certificate for<br />

Intercultural Competence.
