Introduction to Studio Arts<br />

Exploration of the materials, techniques, and inspiration<br />

of the artist in the media of drawing, painting,<br />

printmaking, sculpture, and two- and three-dimensional<br />

design.<br />

ART 151<br />

Introduction to Drawing and Printmaking<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Open to non-Studio Arts majors only.<br />

Development of basic drawing skills in various media and<br />

the exploration of printmaking techniques.<br />

ART 153<br />

Drawing I<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An introduction to drawing and the development of visual<br />

awareness. Experimentation and exploration of technique<br />

developed through a variety of subject matter. Varied<br />

media, including pencil, charcoal, ink, and conte.<br />

ART 154<br />

Drawing II: Figure Drawing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Development of technique and principles used in Drawing<br />

I, ART 153, with emphasis placed on working from the<br />

figure and anatomy.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 153.<br />

ART 160<br />

Two-Dimensional Design<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Examination of the basic elements of two-dimensional<br />

design emphasizing the conceptual process and utilizing<br />

various media and techniques.<br />

ART 200<br />

Figure Drawing Workshop I<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

A studio workshop for art and animation majors with<br />

emphasis placed on working from the figure and anatomy.<br />

May be repeated once for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 153 and 154, or consent of instructor.
