Focuses on developing students’ knowledge and skills in<br />

key areas such as managing employee performance,<br />

analyzing real-world cases, and balancing competing<br />

interests within union and non-union environments.<br />

Students will learn to write performance appraisals, lead<br />

a coaching and counseling discussion, practice collective<br />

bargaining negotiation techniques, and design an<br />

employee relations simulation.<br />

Training and Development<br />

Important concepts and skills for developing human<br />

performance in organizations through training needs<br />

assessment, design and development, and evaluation.<br />

Stresses current methods and approaches for effective<br />

employee training and management development.<br />

Professional Development Practicum<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An individual-directed course combining 100 hours of<br />

relevant work experience with career development tests,<br />

models, and exercises. Each student develops an<br />

experience-based career development plan.<br />

Managing Compensation and Rewards<br />

This course examines various theories, strategies, and<br />

practices of employee compensation. A central focus<br />

throughout this course is on what forms or types of<br />

compensation practices and incentives motivate and<br />

stimulate employee performance and commitment in the<br />

workplace. This course will help students understand the<br />

complexities of compensation practices as future HR<br />

professionals, managers, or employees.<br />

International Management<br />

This course will examine various managerial issues facing<br />

multinational companies operating in international<br />

business environments. Building upon the comprehensive<br />

understanding of the global economy, students will study<br />

various factors that affect the success of global business.<br />

These include the extent of globalization strategy,<br />

organization structure, mode of entry and control,<br />

managing government intervention, human resource<br />

management practices, ethics, and social responsibility.<br />

Prerequisites: INBA 340 and MGMT 355.<br />

MGMT 441<br />

International Entrepreneurship<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Focuses on developing knowledge and skills in three key<br />

components of international entrepreneurship: initiating<br />

entrepreneurial ventures, managing international business<br />

transactions, and dealing with multicultural business<br />

environments. Includes a feasibility study of an<br />

international small business venture start up, case study,<br />

and experiential learning.<br />

Doing Business with East Asia<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course introduces students to the vital business<br />

environments of East Asia. Students study the political,<br />

economic, and socio-cultural influences on business and<br />

the historical background of the region.<br />

MGMT 451<br />

Business Practices in a Global Context<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course, through an extensive program of speakers<br />

and site visits in a foreign setting, provides a broad<br />

exposure to several important environments affecting<br />

international business markets and practices, including<br />

technical, political, social, and economic environments.<br />

Taught on site as part of the Study Abroad Programs.
