Computers in Business<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An introduction to computers and related technologies,<br />

including basic computer concepts and terminology and<br />

hands-on experience in use of spreadsheets,<br />

programming language, and database applications. In<br />

addition, an introduction to the role of IS in business<br />

organizations will be discussed.<br />

Prerequisite: MATH 101, 111, or 112, or consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ISQM 370<br />

Management Information Systems<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course stresses the role of managers in the analysis,<br />

design, development, implementation, maintenance, and<br />

control of information systems as shared corporate<br />

resources. This course also stresses the critical role of IS<br />

in business organizations.<br />

Accounting majors should substitute ACCT 314.<br />

Prerequisite: ISQM 275.<br />

ISQM 377<br />

Production Operations Analysis<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course will introduce students to decision making;<br />

forecasting, capacity, layout, aggregate, and material<br />

planning; inventory; scheduling; simulation and quality<br />

assurance; with computer applications.<br />

Prerequisites: ECON 110, 230; ISQM 275; MATH 112.<br />

ISQM 381<br />

Internship<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

The objective of this one-semester-hour course is to help<br />

the student achieve a worthwhile learning experience that<br />

is relevant to the program of study in the student’s major<br />

or area of emphasis. The internship, conducted with an<br />

off-campus organization, will help the student gain<br />

insights relative to his/her strengths and weaknesses in<br />

the job environment.<br />

Database Management Systems<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course provides an introduction to the concepts of<br />

database systems. Topics to be covered include technical<br />

and managerial issues involved in the analysis and design<br />

of databases. The ER model and logical data models such<br />

as the relational, network, and hierarchical are discussed.<br />

Concepts of object-oriented and distributed databases are<br />

also discussed.<br />

Prerequisite: ACCT 314 or ISQM 370 or consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ISQM 472<br />

Object Oriented Systems Analysis and Design<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

A rigorous approach to information analysis essential to<br />

information systems design. Emphasizes the formalization<br />

of the information systems design process and explores<br />

relevant state-of-the-art techniques.<br />

Prerequisite: ACCT 314 or ISQM 370 or consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ISQM 473<br />

Data Communications and Networks<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An introduction to the use of data communications and<br />

other automation systems in the business environment,<br />

including the study of local and wide area networks, voice<br />

and electronic mail, video conferencing, and other<br />

automation tools in support of management.<br />

Prerequisite: ACCT 314 or ISQM 370 or consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ISQM 474<br />

Management Support Systems<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Examines the concepts and techniques associated with<br />

decision support systems, executive information systems,<br />

and expert systems. The course focuses on the<br />

specification, design, and implementation of DSS, EIS,<br />

and ES in organizations for solving real-world business<br />

problems.<br />

Prerequisite: ACCT 314 or ISQM 370 or consent of<br />

instructor.
