F e b r u a r y 2 0 1 2 bantam/JuVEnilE prEplaydown bonspiEl January 7 - 8 This annual cash prize event hosted by the CWC is an opportunity for male and female Juvenile and Bantam teams from Southern Alberta to tune up their games prior to District Playdowns. Once again we are teaming up with the Calgary Youth Curling Association and offering a Bantam section for the younger curlers as well as a coach and curler seminar. This event is run just like the playdowns with timed pre-game practices, timeouts, coaches, and officials so that teams become familiar with the playdown format before they get there. Entry forms are available on the Junior Bulletin Board. Fun curling night out skins gamE February 4 th This is still the fun night of the curling season. Come on out for the giant Curling Night Out Skins Game. Play three short games with different partners (sounds good already doesn’t it?) and enjoy some food and bevies. Sign up on-line or on the mixed bulletin board for this fun event which is open to men, women, and seniors. You’re guaranteed three games of four ends each. Teams are redrawn for each game! We’ll see you in the early evening on Saturday, February 4 th . Please register on GameTime to participate in this event. calgary ladiEs opEn: January 31 - FEbruary 2 This year’s Calgary Ladies Open Bonspiel will be held at the Glenoce Club. Sign up on the ladies bulletin board. club championships Come on out and play in the Club Championships! Signup sheets for Senior Men’s and Women’s events have been posted. Teams from the Men’s leagues qualify based on grand aggregate results during the season. Mixed teams will begin their Club Championships as part of their regular Friday night play. The Open and Junior leagues will also be holding their own playdowns. On a trial basis to avoid conflicts with Playdowns and attract more entries, the Senior Ladies Club Championship draw will allow teams a specified period of time to schedule and play each game similar to match play draws in golf. Each game will be assigned a date to be played by. Junior curling We always have space in our Winter Session for Lite Rock curlers. Children use our full-sized lightweight curling stones. Our popular Novice Curling League is designed to give adult curlers a chance to get their feet wet with people of the same skill level. Enter as individuals for this 6-week program that combines instruction and game play. Past participants and all other curlers are welcome. curling birthday partiEs If you’re looking for a fun and unique birthday party idea curling is the answer! All ages can enjoy an hour of fun, planned games and learn about our fun and slippery sport. An instructor is provided for a fee of $45. Food and beverage can be arranged. Jam can bonspiEl February 25 The CWC will once again host the annual CYCA Jam Can Lite Rock Bonspiel for 7 - 11 year olds. Register your teams with Kim in the Curling Office. This is an open event so any combination of genders is acceptable. All participants receive a medal. See Kim if you would like to volunteer to assist with this event. playdown Entry dEadlinEs Get your entry in now for District Playdowns. Entry forms are available on league bulletin boards or online at www.saca.ca. Entry form and payment must reach the SACA office before the close of business (usually 3:30 pm) on the date indicated. Over the summer this fantastic program even received an award from the NACAD. It was chosen as New Program of the Year! Attention to Detail January 13 th | 6:00 - 6:30 pm | $2 per person January’s Toonie Tweak Day is Attention to Detail. We will look at our deliveries and the deliveries of others to develop better skills of our own and to hone our ability to detect and correct with others. line Call February 17 th | 6:00 - 6:30 pm | $2 per person February’s Toonie Tweak Day is Line Call and will focus on, big shock here, line call! If you struggle with this vital skill this is the class for you. Learn how to help your team make more shots by judging line-call better!
