Tina-Marie yenna | Director of Skating<br />

When Tina-Maria Yenna started at the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong> in 2009 she was hired on as a part time figure<br />

skating coach. It didn’t take long for Tina-Marie to grab the attention of not only the members but her<br />

colleagues and the <strong>Club</strong>’s senior managers as well. In just a few short months Tina-Marie moved from a part<br />

time figure skating coach to a full time administrator and figure skating professional. Tina-Marie’s attention to<br />

detail, energy and dedication is now the driving force behind the entire Skating Section.<br />

Prior to coming to the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, Tina-Marie was on tour with Disney on Ice for a period of twelve<br />

months. This was an extremely fun and exciting time for Tina-Marie; traveling the world and doing what she<br />

loves to do - skate! “The perks and the opportunity to travel the world really made living out of a suitcase<br />

worth it for those twelve months,” states Yenna. Tina-Marie got into Disney on Ice at a Canadian National<br />

competition where she was scouted to join the team. After a successful and rewarding experience Tina-Marie<br />

returned to <strong>Calgary</strong>; she knew that <strong>Calgary</strong> was always going to be her home base.<br />

Down the road Tina-Marie does see a great deal of positive growth happening at the <strong>Club</strong>, “I would like to<br />

turn the CWC into a competitive Skating <strong>Club</strong>, and bring a little more oomph to the entire Skating Section,”<br />

states Yenna.<br />

The <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong> is extremely lucky to have Tina-Marie Yenna as the Director of Skating. Tina-Marie<br />

comes to work every day with a smile on her face and enjoys working with each member to help them realize<br />

their skating potential. “I strive to help each skater be the absolute best they can be,” states Yenna. The<br />

<strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong> has always had a great Skating Section, with dedicated professionals and enthusiastic<br />

skaters, and with Tina-Marie leading the team there is no telling what heights can be reached!<br />

linda Higgins | Artistic Coordinator/Skating Professional<br />

Linda Higgins has been a member of the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong> Skating team for over ten years and has taught<br />

everything from group and private lessons to high level competitive testing. Linda really loves the creative<br />

and artistic aspect of skating; she loves to see things develop into the bigger picture.<br />

Linda skated competitively for over 7 years and also had the privilege of skating with Disney on Ice and<br />

the Ice Capades from 2001 until the end of 2002. Her experience and background provided her with the<br />

knowledge and teaching skills to help bring our young skaters to the next level. “With anything you do, the<br />

more you practice, the more comfortable it becomes. This is when you really start to see the rewards of your<br />

hard work,” states Higgins.<br />

Moving forward Linda would like to see the <strong>Club</strong>, and our skaters, really utilize the facilities that are available.<br />

“There is so much potential with the Fitness Centre and studios that our skaters can really benefit from,”<br />

states Higgins. The <strong>Club</strong> is very fortunate to have the creativity and experience that Linda brings to the table<br />

and our skaters will continue to grow and learn under her teaching and direction.<br />

natasha Taylor | Skating Professional<br />

Natasha Taylor came to the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong> approximately 4 years ago as an administrator, payroll<br />

assistant and Skating Coach. Natasha has incredible skating talents and is a key contributor to our Skating<br />

Section. Currently Natasha teaches private lessons and some spin classes; she also coaches the Junior Group<br />

and the Figure 8 <strong>Club</strong>.<br />

During her time here at the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, Natasha has had the opportunity to compete in some very<br />

high level competitions. In 2009 Natasha competed at the Canadian Nationals, in the Triathlon division, which<br />

combines free skate, interpretive and skating skills all into one multi-segmented event. Natasha also had the<br />

privilege to represent Canada at the 2010 World Adult Championships in the same event. Way to Go Natasha!<br />

Natasha has a special place in her heart for the kids at the <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Winter</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, and this is one of the main<br />

reasons why she loves teaching here. “I love the kids at the <strong>Club</strong> and the access to ice time is a real bonus<br />

when teaching all of our students,” states Taylor. With Natasha’s wide range of skating skills and knowledge<br />

the Junior Skaters at the <strong>Club</strong> are in very good hands.<br />
