A housing allowance between $1,300-<br />
$1,800 per month, based on location of<br />
assignment (higher rate for Jakarta than<br />
those assigned elsewhere).<br />
A monthly payment in yen that includes<br />
a base stipend, a housing allowance and<br />
a family allowance. The amount varies,<br />
depending upon the grant category, the<br />
number of accompanying dependents<br />
and type of housing. For lecturers, the<br />
range is 600,000 yen (single), 695,000<br />
yen (couple) and 765,000-810,000<br />
yen (family). Lecturers also receive a<br />
supplemental allowance. For research<br />
grantees, the range is 470,000 yen<br />
(single), 550,000 yen (couple) and<br />
605,000-650,000 yen (family).<br />
Allowances are paid in Korean won and<br />
may be adjusted in case of extreme<br />
exchange rate fluctuations. Dependent<br />
allowance of approximately US$200 per<br />
month for one dependent and US$350 per<br />
month total for two or more dependents<br />
if the dependent stays in Korea for<br />
80 percent or more of the entire grant<br />
duration. When housing is not provided by<br />
host institution, a housing allowance of up<br />
to US$500 per month for single grantees<br />
or US$700 per month for grantees with<br />
one or more dependents is provided. For<br />
recipients of the distinguished lecturing<br />
awards, the host institution will provide<br />
housing at no cost to the grantees.<br />
For the lecturing award, the host institution<br />
will provide free accommodation for the<br />
grantee and accompanying dependents<br />
and a monthly allowance of $2,350 to<br />
$2,650 depending upon the number<br />
of accompanying dependents. For the<br />

description. For the research award,<br />
a housing allowance of MOP$4,500<br />
(approximately US$560) per month.<br />
Round-trip travel for the grantee. An excessbaggage<br />
allowance of $1,000 to ship books,<br />
equipment or other materials to and from<br />
assignment. For grants of 4 months or more,<br />
round-trip travel for one dependent and a one-time<br />
relocation allowance of $750 will be provided.<br />
Round-trip travel for the grantee and one<br />
dependent who accompanies the grantee for more<br />
than 80 percent of a grant of 9 months or more,<br />
settling-in allowance equivalent to 1 month’s rent<br />
and baggage allowance based on length of grant:<br />
60,000 yen to 100,000 yen and $300 to $500.<br />
Round-trip travel for the grantee. Travel benefits<br />
for one accompanying dependent if the grant is<br />
for 10 months or more and if the dependent stays<br />
in Korea for 80 percent or more of the entire grant<br />
duration. Settling-in allowance of US$250 paid<br />
immediately upon arrival. Baggage allowance of<br />
US$350 for 3- to 6- month grants; US$500 for<br />
grants of one academic year.<br />
For the lecturing award, $3,550 for the grantee<br />
plus $2,300 for one dependent and $4,600 for<br />
two or more dependents. For the research award,<br />

AMINEF will cover all reasonable in-country<br />
tuition costs for primary and secondary schoolage<br />
dependent children of Fulbright Scholars.<br />
Tuition fees for grades 1-12 for up to two<br />
accompanying dependents if they accompany<br />
the grantee for more than 80 percent of grant:<br />
approximately 675,000 yen per child for grants<br />
of up to 3 months, 1,100,000 yen for grants of<br />
4-6 months and 2,000,000 yen for grants of 7<br />
months or longer.<br />
Up to US$28,000 per family for up to two<br />
dependent children for the full year, with a<br />
maximum benefit of US$14,000 per child, only if<br />
the dependent stays in Korea for 80 percent or<br />
longer of the entire grant duration. Adjustments<br />
will be made for shorter periods. Grantees must<br />
pay amounts exceeding allowance at time of<br />
registration. Requests to cover such amounts<br />
will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.<br />
Local transportation allowance of $500 per month in Jakarta and<br />
$400 per month for other areas. Lecturing grantees are encouraged<br />
to take a 2-week intensive Bahasa Indonesia course in Indonesia<br />
immediately prior to the start of their grant activities. Grant benefits<br />
will be extended to cover this period of study and institution fees will<br />
be covered.<br />
Researchers also receive a research allowance of approximately<br />
300,000-500,000 yen, depending on the length of the grant.<br />
Honoraria for guest lecturing may be accepted under the terms of<br />
the award. For the International Education Administrators Program,<br />
grantees are provided a round-trip air ticket, and per diem to cover all<br />
in-country expenses (lodging, meals and local transportation).<br />
Incidental and 3- to 6-month research allowance: for lecturing<br />
awards, US$300; for research and lecturing/research awards,<br />
US$500 for a grant and US$1,000 for grants of one academic year.<br />
All allowances are paid in Korean won and may be adjusted in case<br />
of extreme exchange rate fluctuation. For the International Education<br />
Administrators Program, grantees receive round-trip travel, lodging<br />
and a per diem that includes a meal allowance for those meals not<br />
provided.<br />
