A housing allowance between $1,300-
$1,800 per month, based on location of
assignment (higher rate for Jakarta than
those assigned elsewhere).
A monthly payment in yen that includes
a base stipend, a housing allowance and
a family allowance. The amount varies,
depending upon the grant category, the
number of accompanying dependents
and type of housing. For lecturers, the
range is 600,000 yen (single), 695,000
yen (couple) and 765,000-810,000
yen (family). Lecturers also receive a
supplemental allowance. For research
grantees, the range is 470,000 yen
(single), 550,000 yen (couple) and
605,000-650,000 yen (family).
Allowances are paid in Korean won and
may be adjusted in case of extreme
exchange rate fluctuations. Dependent
allowance of approximately US$200 per
month for one dependent and US$350 per
month total for two or more dependents
if the dependent stays in Korea for
80 percent or more of the entire grant
duration. When housing is not provided by
host institution, a housing allowance of up
to US$500 per month for single grantees
or US$700 per month for grantees with
one or more dependents is provided. For
recipients of the distinguished lecturing
awards, the host institution will provide
housing at no cost to the grantees.
For the lecturing award, the host institution
will provide free accommodation for the
grantee and accompanying dependents
and a monthly allowance of $2,350 to
$2,650 depending upon the number
of accompanying dependents. For the

description. For the research award,
a housing allowance of MOP$4,500
(approximately US$560) per month.
Round-trip travel for the grantee. An excessbaggage
allowance of $1,000 to ship books,
equipment or other materials to and from
assignment. For grants of 4 months or more,
round-trip travel for one dependent and a one-time
relocation allowance of $750 will be provided.
Round-trip travel for the grantee and one
dependent who accompanies the grantee for more
than 80 percent of a grant of 9 months or more,
settling-in allowance equivalent to 1 month’s rent
and baggage allowance based on length of grant:
60,000 yen to 100,000 yen and $300 to $500.

for one accompanying dependent if the grant is
for 10 months or more and if the dependent stays
in Korea for 80 percent or more of the entire grant
duration. Settling-in allowance of US$250 paid
immediately upon arrival. Baggage allowance of
US$350 for 3- to 6- month grants; US$500 for
grants of one academic year.
For the lecturing award, $3,550 for the grantee
plus $2,300 for one dependent and $4,600 for
two or more dependents. For the research award,

AMINEF will cover all reasonable in-country
tuition costs for primary and secondary schoolage
dependent children of Fulbright Scholars.
Tuition fees for grades 1-12 for up to two
accompanying dependents if they accompany
the grantee for more than 80 percent of grant:
approximately 675,000 yen per child for grants
of up to 3 months, 1,100,000 yen for grants of
4-6 months and 2,000,000 yen for grants of 7
months or longer.
Up to US$28,000 per family for up to two
dependent children for the full year, with a
maximum benefit of US$14,000 per child, only if
the dependent stays in Korea for 80 percent or
longer of the entire grant duration. Adjustments
will be made for shorter periods. Grantees must
pay amounts exceeding allowance at time of
registration. Requests to cover such amounts
will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.
Local transportation allowance of $500 per month in Jakarta and
$400 per month for other areas. Lecturing grantees are encouraged
to take a 2-week intensive Bahasa Indonesia course in Indonesia
immediately prior to the start of their grant activities. Grant benefits
will be extended to cover this period of study and institution fees will
be covered.
Researchers also receive a research allowance of approximately
300,000-500,000 yen, depending on the length of the grant.
Honoraria for guest lecturing may be accepted under the terms of
the award. For the International Education Administrators Program,
grantees are provided a round-trip air ticket, and per diem to cover all
in-country expenses (lodging, meals and local transportation).
Incidental and 3- to 6-month research allowance: for lecturing
awards, US$300; for research and lecturing/research awards,
US$500 for a grant and US$1,000 for grants of one academic year.
All allowances are paid in Korean won and may be adjusted in case
of extreme exchange rate fluctuation. For the International Education
Administrators Program, grantees receive round-trip travel, lodging
and a per diem that includes a meal allowance for those meals not
provided.
