This tour is a great introduction to the rich variety of
Scotland which has bewitched tourists for centuries.
Arrochar nestles at the head of Loch Long amongst the
“Arrochar Alps”, the most spectacular peak of which is
Ben Arthur, also known as The Cobbler. This is Scotland at its most
serene and most inspiring, with the craggy mountains looking down upon
the sheltered sea loch. It is hard to believe we are only a short drive from
the centre of Glasgow. We exploit this situation to the full with a superb
excursion programme which includes not only the scenic delights of
Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, but also a visit to Scotland’s largest city
which has re-invented itself in recent years to become one of the most
interesting and dynamic cities in Europe.
Excursions Included
Full Day to the Trossachs. Travelling
first via Crianlarich, Lochearnhead, Loch
Lubnaig and the Falls of Leny to Callander.
Then on past Loch Venachar to the
Trossachs. Returning via Aberfoyle.
Full Day to Helensburgh and Loch
Lomond. We travel alongside Loch Long
and Gare Loch to Helensburgh, on the
Bonnie Clyde. In the afternoon we journey

Arrochar
Situated on the edge of the small
village of Arrochar at the head of Loch
Long and surrounded by the rugged
peaks of the “Arrochar Alps” there
are pleasant strolls as well as
strenuous walks in the immediate
vicinity. There is a pleasant lounge
bar providing nightly entertainment
and a smart restaurant serving
excellent waiter-served menus. All 81
rooms have bath or shower and WC,
TV, hair dryer and tea/coffee making
facilities. Lift serves most floors.

before taking a trip on the loch (included in
the tour cost) and returning to Arrochar.

magnificent buildings and delightful parks
beside the Clyde, Glasgow has become
one of Europe’s most dynamic and
cultured cities. We have a guided tour of
the city (included in the holiday cost).

Excursions Included
Half Day to Aberdeen. We travel along
the magnificent Dee valley to Aberdeen,
the “Granite City”, with its lovely pink
granite buildings and delightful floral
displays.
Half Day to Royal Deeside. We travel
west to Balmoral Castle, pausing at
Crathie Church (entrance to Balmoral
is included in the tour cost when the
castle is open which is April-July only).
Full Day to Grantown and the Whisky
Trail. Today’s journey takes us through
some spectacular scenery to Cock Bridge
and Tomintoul and on to Grantown, then
along the Spey Valley, visiting one of the
many distilleries for which this area is
famous (distillery visit included in the
tour cost).
Full Day to Arbroath and Glamis. We
travel by the thriving port of Montrose to
picturesque Arbroath renowned for its
’smokies’, delicious smoked haddock and
also for its smoked salmon. We continue
to Glamis Castle, family seat of the Queen
Mother and macabre setting for
Shakespeare’s ’Macbeth’ (entrance
included in the tour cost).

by the Royal Family - Royal Deeside. To the north lie the
magnificent Cairngorm Mountains and to the south the
mountains of Lochnagar (setting for the children’s book
by the Prince of Wales) and the ski area at Glenshee. To the east lies
the rich farming land of the lower Dee valley and the surprising floral
city of Aberdeen, famous for its roses and the pink granite which
gives it its famous soubrquet ’The Granite City’. Our excursions cover
not only Deeside and Aberdeen, but also parts of the Spey Valley and
the lovely countryside of Forfar and Angus, which is little known to
