This holiday takes us to some
of the less well known and
loveliest parts of South Devon
from our base in Torquay.
Excursions Included
Full Day to South Hams and Salcombe. From coastal
plateaux through narrow valleys along the fringes of
Dartmoor to beautiful beaches, the South Hams has
many lovely landscapes. Salcombe is its principal resort
and a famous sailing centre.
Full Day to Teignmouth and Dawlish. Teignmouth lies
at the mouth of the River Teign and has been a holiday
resort since the 1840s. It is notable as the last place
in England to be invaded, by a French force in 1690.
Dawlish is famous for its black swans which can be
seen in Dawlish Brook which runs through a delightful
park in the middle of the town.

A family run hotel set in its own grounds enjoying
views across Torquay towards the sea. There is an
attractive bar lounge and separate entertainment
lounge with access to the gardens, terrace and
outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal opening)
The restaurant serves home cooked food with
waiter service. 4 ground floor bedrooms with the
remainder split between 1st and 2nd floors. All
rooms have bath or shower and WC (mostly
shower), some with balcony overlooking the

Excursions Included
Full Day to Seaton and Sidmouth. Sidmouth is a
famously select resort which was regularly visited by
Princess Victoria before she became Queen. Huge cliffs
rise on either side of the town’s Regency architecture.
Seaton is a charming resort with a delightful tramway.
Full Day to Teignmouth and Dawlish. We travel
around the estuary of the River Exe to Dawlish, a
relaxing resort famous for its attractive gardens and
black swans. We continue to Teignmouth, a fascinating
ancient port with a myriad of narrow streets. It became
a popular resort with the coming of the railways and still
retains its functions as both port and holiday resort.

level seafront overlooking Exmouth’s fine golden
sands, a few minutes' walk from the shops. 76
rooms with central heating, private bath or shower
and WC. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities,

room with snooker and darts. The bar lounge has a
dance floor and hosts entertainment most evenings.

The town of Sherborne dates
from early Saxon times - it is
said that King Alfred was
schooled in the Abbey. Sir Walter
Raleigh once owned the castle and built his
splendid house in its grounds. John Constable,
the painter, described the parish church as
“finer than Salisbury cathedral”.

Full Day to Lyme Regis and Bridport. Lyme Regis
clings spectacularly to the hillside and boasts a
remarkable Cobb or jetty protecting its harbour.
Bridport is a fascinating ancient market town.
Full Day to Blandford Forum and Poole. Blandford
Forum was rebuilt in the 18th century following two
devastating fires and is now one of the best preserved
Georgian towns in England. Poole’s huge natural harbour
is also a major bird sanctuary.
